50 Cent has cleared the air about being replaced in the upcoming Sylvester Stallone movie, The Expendables, citing his album priorities as the primary cause.
Speaking through a publicist, a statement was released Tuesday (March 24) afternoon.
“50 Cent was offered the role of Hale Caesar in The Expendables, however he is currently in the process of completing his forthcoming album Before I Self Destruct with Dr. Dre and Eminem,” a rep wrote. “He was unfortunately not able to commit to the project.” (MTV)
Fif’s role was officially recast earlier this week for actor Terry Crews.
Stallone has changed the role of Hale Caesar for a final time. 6’2 & a half” and BIG. He’s a former San Diego Charger. He made his screen debut with Arnold Schwarzeneggar in The 6th Day. And his most recent film will be this summer’s Terminator Salvation. He is Terry Crews. Sly seems very enthusiastic about him and I look forward to seeing what Terry Crews has in store for us. Due to scheduling issues, the G-Unit leader was first chosen to replace Forest Whitaker in the movie role.
“Trust me, the change of Forest Whitaker to 50 Cent AKA Curtis Jackson is a good one,” Stallone wrote in a statement. “Nobody wanted Eric Roberts over Ben Kingsley, but I believe it’s a vastly improved cast. The point is, you either believe in me and the project, setting your personal feelings aside, or you take a darker approach, which really serves no purpose since your insight and suggestions and overall are a great thrill for me to behold everyday I sign on.” (Press Release)
The film is currently scheduled to begin production later this month.
Stallone, who wrote and will direct the film, is starring in the project, which focuses on a group of mercenaries heading to South America to overthrow a ruthless dictator. Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Charisma Carpenter, Steve Austin and Mickey Rourke will also star. Sly’s pal Arnold Schwarzenegger will appear in a cameo role. Shooting will begin in Brazil later this month. (All Headline News)
