G-Unit boss 50 Cent is the latest hip-hop artist to come forward and show support for rapper Troy Ave following last week’s publicized New York concert shooting.
50 spoke up on Instagram Tuesday (May 31) and came to the rapper’s defense following his not guilty plea for attempted murder.
Last night (May 30) on Instagram, fellow rapper Meek Mill posted up a pic of the New York rapper in a wheelchair and started up a “Free Troy Ave” hashtag.
Ave’s attorney spoke out this week on his client being a victim in the shooting.
“In the hip hop world, he’s not known as one of these troublemakers. He doesn’t live a gangster rap lifestyle,” said attorney John Stella. “What really happened here is Mr. Collins here is the real victim,” said another Collins attorney, Scott Leemon. “The person who was killed at this event, he died a hero. He was his bodyguard. He wasn’t shot by Mr. Collins. He was a lifelong friend.” (NY Daily News)
Ave pleaded his innocence in the crime Monday (May 30).
