In Fif’s eyes, his music rivals tend to have issues with him for no real legitimate reasons.

“Nah,” Fif said when asked if Lighty’s passing would encourage him to extend an open hand to music rivals like Fat Joe and Rick Ross. “You know what I think? A lot of times it’s people who choose not to like you. Regardless, you could be across the street from you, they don’t have to have a conversation or have anything to be a source of why they feel that way about you. You can’t [have] that conversation with some of these people so I don’t look to resolve any of that, I just move forward without focusing on it.” (“The Rickey Smiley Morning Show”)

Last Wednesday (September 5), both Fif and rival Fat Joe attended Lighty’s New York funeral.

Rap royalty turned out en masse Wednesday for the farewell of fallen hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty. A constellation of stars — many of them wearing pins emblazoned with Lighty’s face — crowded a Manhattan funeral home to pay their respects. Sean Diddy Combs, Fat Joe, Rev. Run, Missy Elliott, Michael Bivens, Wyclef Jean, Ed Lover — each stopped by the open casket where Lighty was laid out in a black suit. The mourners also included rappers Lighty had worked with like 50 Cent, singers like Mary J. Blige and Lauryn Hill, celebrities like Gayle King and Nick Cannon, and other rap moguls like Andre Harrell, Lyor Cohen and Mona Scott-Young. (New York Daily News)

On Fat Joe’s “Goodbye” remix Lighty ode, he even acnkowledges the late music executive’s attempt to cease their beef.

“I know you couldn’t stop the 50 sh*t/But I ain’t never look at you no different Chris/You was my mentor, you started me/That’s why you’ll forever be a part of me/I pray to God to forgive him/And when you get the heaven tell Pun we’ll miss him” (“Goodbye” Remix)

Reports of Lighty’s reported suicide surfaced online August 30th.

According to law enforcement, 44-year-old Lighty’s body was found by police around 11:30 AM in the backyard of his Bronx apartment. Lighty was pronounced dead on the scene, where a semi-automatic firearm was recovered. The death is being investigated as a possible suicide. According to sources close to Lighty, the hip hop mogul had been in an argument with his ex-wife and shot himself in the head. We’re told the couple got divorced last year and Lighty hadn’t been the same since. (TMZ)
