G-Unit head 50 Cent has explained the motivation behind pushing his Street King Immortal album back to February and why the long-awaited solo effort will not get moved back again.
According to Fif, February holds a special place in his heart because it represents when his highly-celebrated Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ studio debut dropped.
Hard to believe that it’s been almost a decade since 50 Cent crashed the rap world with his meteoric debut LP, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, but on February 6, 2013, Fif’s sonic baby will hit the 10-year mark. 5-0 won’t hit the anniversary on the head though. On Tuesday (November 27), he tweeted that Street King will actually drop on February 26. That release date comes not long after MTV News sat with him and buddy Eminem on the Detroit set of Fif’s “My Life” video, where he assured us that the oft-delayed album would come in the same month as his seminal LP: “February, definitely; I don’t want to miss that so it won’t go past February.” (MTV)
Despite the connection in time reference, Fif said fans should not think both albums are comparable.
“Hold me to the greater quality,” he urged fans who’ll be tempted to compare Street King to Get Rich. “Don’t hold me to the exact content, don’t hold me to the production, don’t play both albums next to each other and say, ‘Which track do I like better?'” (MTV)
Yesterday, the G-Unit head announced his new album’s final release date.
“I will not let you down.I have really been working on this album. STREET KING IMMORTAL will be a classic. SMSaudio,” Fif tweeted Tuesday (November 27).

Recently, 50 promised the solo album would match if not surpass what his studio debut did content-wise back in 2003.
“Yeah, Street King Immortal. The actual album, it was scheduled to release November 13th, but we had to move the date,” Fif said in an interview from Paris, France. “For this album, it’s already been a year late. It’s usually two years in my cycle that I go because I release the record and then I spend a whole year after touring and then I go again. So on this actual cycle it was actually a lot longer because it’s the final album requirement for Interscope and we went through an audit type of situation until we got it all cleared up and now everybody’s ready to work, so it’s ready to come out. I finished it. I’m comfortable with the actual record, I feel it’s arguable as good if not better than what I did in the beginning with Get Rich and The Massacre. But you know, I’ve learned to adjust pretty well to people judging me as an artist and people look at the material and try to be critics more than fans. But I’m my biggest critic.” (Money Bags Blake)
