In addition to addressing a new photo of himself and Jay at Eminem‘s Detroit concert this past week, 50 said he also cleared the air with Puffy.

“We got a chance to kick it for a minute,” 50 said referencing Jay. “I know people were interested in what that conversation was like. But they can ask Jay-Z. I take people’s actions as if it’s genuinely how they feel. I can only use what I saw you do as if that’s what you meant. I can’t understand what your motivation was prior to that…I had a conversation with Puffy the night before Jay. He gave me a whole new perspective on his actions. He’s like, ‘I understand the way you felt because of what I was doing at the time. But I wasn’t thinking what you was thinking I was. You done hit me nine times. I’m just in the fetal because I understand why you are attacking me. But if I can’t touch bases with you to tell you what I’m thinking or why I did it, then you can’t understand it.’ We created a little clarity out there.” (MTV)

Last July, 50 publicly called out Diddy in a live radio interview.

“Diddy, well, the thing about it is, Puffy’s like a b*tch,” 50 said when asked if Diddy was subliminally dissing him. “To describe Puffy in one word is a ‘b*tch.’ Right? Puffy wants to be the hot b*tch in the group. You know how you see a hot b*tch — I know it sounds kinda harsh but I’ll explain my statement. You know how an ugly b*tch always has pretty friends? That’s how he’s built his group. He wants to be the hot b*tch in the group. He wants to make sure he gets all the attention. He wants to make sure the n*ggas wanna holla at him. And you know, it’s the reality of the situation, man. He’ll tell you what happened himself down in Miami. It’s not even open season on Diddy.” (“G-Unit Radio”)

Prior to the interview, 50 said Diddy did not qualify as an authentic emcee because of his usage of ghostwriters.

“You know what’s interesting, he’s not an artist,” 50 said in an interview with Nancy B. “An artist would be somebody that actually wrote something, maybe on the record or because we have R&B artists that don’t actually write music, maybe it’s unfair because of the pressures people put on me. Imagine if I just sat around and listened to people’s CDs and say I’m just gonna say the first verse I hear that sounds good. That would completely take away the pressure and I would still be the artist in front of you with a new song every two minutes because every artist that has a song that would like to make some money off it would send it. It doesn’t make you special. When you actually do what I thought was a part of hip-hop and made the culture exciting to me, which was each person’s original experience and how you learn to enjoy them as an individual and their portion of their life. So when that’s not there because they’re being an executive, saying you don’t write rhymes you write checks, that’s not hot. For hip-hop, that’s not hot. Maybe for another genre it’ll work, R&B or something else because they’re made, these people are all made and when companies decide they’re gone, they’re gone. Immediately, because they couldn’t even figure out what to do without a team of people figuring it out for them.” (WZMX Hot)

Earlier this year, tensions also rose with 50 and Jay when the G-Unit leader clowned Hov on his habit of subliminal dissing.

“It’s the competitive nature of the art form,” Fif explained about his relationship with Jay. “It’s still there, he still competes too. He just does it so subliminal that people don’t read it. To me, it’s a softer way to do it. A safer way to do it because no one directly feels offended by it…Why not just say it? I don’t feel the [disses]. You gotta at least let the [diss be noticeable.] A guy that’s that subtle, how do you really take offense to those activities? You know, I get really disrespectful, I don’t mind. And then it’s like, we can go to the other space and it can really go down.” (Power 105.1)
