50 Cent Defends Flaunting $$$, “I Sent A Joke On Twitter At The Wrong Time”

G-Unit leader 50 Cent has come forward to address recently flaunting his wealth through numerous public photos he self-published on Twitter.

50 admitted his photos may have been misinterpreted and sparked negative reactions.

“Everyone has a right to their opinion on you when you’re public property,” 50 said in an interview. “Some people who may not be in a good financial state are angry that you have the ability to do that…I sent a joke on Twitter at the wrong time and it was completely misinterpreted…You could say my name and it will provoke emotion…Some people love it. Some people hate it. Some people don’t have enough interest in it to care either way, but they [still] know who you’re talking about…They’ll say something negative [about] where you can put that money…Then, when you have no money, they’ll have something negative to say about that [too], whichever way, whatever situation you’re in, they have something to say about it, regardless.” (Black Enterprise)

50 turned heads last month by tweeting photos of himself, surrounded by piles of money.

50 Cent is seen in one picture stacking some playing cards on top of a huge pile of used notes. Added to it was the caption: “This is the life baby I’m going to Vegas with Floyd I’ll double this quick,” the Daily Mail reported. In another photo he is shown flicking through huge wads of cash, he tweeted: “Holy s*** bat man I think I’m rich. LOL”. One showed him pretending to tuck into the pile of cash with a knife and fork, tweeting: “I’m eating good baby and I’m still hungry. Lol”. And another showed him posing with a stack of bills between his lips as he gazes pensively off into the horizon. Finally, showing his creative side he arranged the stack of money into a large love heart shape, tweeting: “Who says I don’t have a heart? Lol”. (Daily News & Analysis)

The rapper later posted a video of himself stuffing his sports car with $2 million dollars.

Did you know a Lamborghini can carry several houses in its forward-mounted trunk? Well, it can, if you turn those houses into cash. How do we know this? 50 Cent put $2 million in cash into a Lamborghini Murcielago and captured the feat on video. The running commentary turns what would otherwise be an exercisein mindless excess into self-parody of legendary status. (Motor Authority)

Over the summer, 50 was one of few artists who earned a spot on Forbes‘ annual “Hip-Hop Cash Kings” list.
