G-Unit head 50 Cent recently talked about his crew reuniting following a publicized hiatus and how much of an impact Tony Yayo's Instagram summer jab had on group member Lloyd Banks.

According to Curtis Jackson, Yayo dragging Lloyd’s name into a social media post fueled an unexpected phone call.

“He calls me like, “Yo, I got nothing to do with that sh*t.” He comes to see me to talk to me about that and I’m like, “I don’t get anything out of destroying things that I built.” These are things that I built from the beginning so I just don’t really understand where that miscommunication came from to begin with. What happens is people don’t miscommunicate when you’re not talking. … We weren’t speaking to each other because there was a point where I looked at [Banks] and saw that he wanted his independence or space. This was my assessment of what his actions were.” (XXL Magazine)

Yayo’s now-infamous Instagram post went viral in mid-February.

“”50 ain’t rocking with me and Banks the same. I layed my life down for the unit but you live and you learn,” Yayo captioned to a photo in February 2014. (Tony Yayo’s Instagram)

Lloyd Banks recently cited a lack of communication for putting distance between himself and Fif.

“Me and 50 wasn’t talking for a while,” Banks said in an interview. “It was a lack of communication on both our parts. I don’t know what to chalk it up to. We been doing this for a long time. Over ten years. Went from being in a condo just planning over what we wanted to happen and to watch it play out…It wasn’t just me and 50. It was points me and Buck didn’t talk.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

The “Talk of New York” explained what tore him away from the Unit head.

“G-Unit is the gift and the curse,” Yayo said in the interview. “I got emotional one day. You know I’m gonna tell the truth. [laughs] I got light-skinned on y’all. I got emotional and said, ’50 don’t rock with us,’ you know what I’m saying? I was going through a lot. But you see, the media took what I said — and blew it up. Everybody started running with it and got crazy with it. That’s all that was.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

Although the Unit had fallen apart in recent years, reunited member Young Buck recently promised his band of brothers were built to win.

“Don’t look for the downfall of G-Unit,” the rapper said. “Cause you’ll be looking for a long God damn time. You understand? But looking for the success of G-Unit you’ll get what you want to see real quick. But looking for the downfall homie you gon’ be stuck…Don’t pray on our downfall or look for it. Look for the success. Look for the good music. Look for the positive energy. And that’s what you gon’ get. Because even if you ain’t looking for it that’s what you gon’ get.” (This Is 50)

    • that’s what’s sad about music right now, cause these nikkas is on every website, doing interviews on every radio station and the new album is better than 90% of the music that came out in the last 3-6 months… and yet they’re irrelevant

    • I can tell that you hate. What other rapgroup is hot right now or putting in work? Certainly not YMCMB or that CO band.
