Here are the SOHH.com 5 Reasons to download Masterpiece Theatre.
1. Grown Up Kid
Willie The Kid has come a long way in recent years. From his early beginnings as the first signed artist on mixtape heavyweights DJ Drama DJ Sense and Don Cannon’s Aphilliates Music Group, Kid is a young vet. With his debut album Absolute Greatness dropping back in 2006, WTK has since had a tireless work ethnic dropping over a dozen projects which included mixtapes and EP’s. The younger brother of Wu-Tang Clan affiliate LA The Darkman, Willie has done songs with a variety of high profile artists including names like Diddy, Nas, Rick Ross, Scarface, Gucci Mane, Lil’ Wayne and Nelly.
2. Elite Lyricism
While listening to Masterpiece Theatre, listeners will be flooded with vivid imagery and superb lines of the highest quality. Willie is an excellent writer and puts time into his thought provoking intricate rhyme schemes. At a time in Hip Hop where it seems the bar has been lowered when it comes to lyricism, WTK is a breath of fresh air for those that appreciate bars of an advanced nature. For example, “Medusa” featuring NYC upper crust emcees Action Bronson and Roc Marciano is a display of rap wizardry at its finest.

3. Halah Tuna
“Halah Tuna” is the first single and video released off Masterpiece Theatre. The beat is ridiculous and the video has a vintage artsy feel to it. This visual looks nothing like a typical rap video which adds to the appeal. Directed by John Boros, the unique imagery of “Halah Tuna” personifies Willie’s style the fullest. Cool, calm, collected and precise, listeners will have to bump this a few times to capture the full spectrum of this complex song.
4. Best Producer Out?
Alchemist is having a run like no other producer at this point. In the past twelve months his discography shows talent, versatility and consistency. He has dropped highly acclaimed work with artists like Prodigy (Albert Einstein), Action Bronson (Rare Chandeliers) Domo Genesis (No Idols) and Durag Dynasty (360 Waves). Alchemist has added some amazing elements to his production, and on Masterpiece Theatre that trend continues. Classic samples, impeccable sounds and experimental melodies are included on this EP in a cohesive manner. ALC sat down with Icon Jelks and Tekh Togo at his infamous “Rap Camp” headquarters to talk about what intrigued him to work with Willie The Kid. “His style of rhyming – that style is his own. It goes off in different corners – it kinda branches out, it goes this way, that way – it’s unpredictable. It’s not your average rap patterns.”
On this EP drop Willie The Kid keeps the features to a minimum. Alchemist plays double duty on the boards and gives us some bars as well on “Bad Mistake.” As mentioned earlier “Medusa” is a fire group effort that features Roc Marciano and Action Bronson. Masterpiece Theatre is produced entirely by ALC.
