Vado – Slime Flu 4

Harlem World’s Vado has made a strong come up since he entered the game alongside the “Godfather” Killa Cam back in 2009. Although he rapped before then with his rhyme partner Jae Millz reppin’ the Most Hated team, the Boss Of All Bosses mixtape series with DJ Drama gave V a full spotlight. After his short lived stint with Interscope Records, the NYC wordsmith linked up with down south connect DJ Khaled and signed with his We The Best label. Now with the support of YMCMB as well, Vado is poised to show the world his full potential with his latest drop, which is the fourth installment of the Slime Flu collection.

Here are the SOHH.com 5 Reasons to download Slime Flu 4.

1. Slimmmmeeee

Vado has broadened his musical horizons which should lead to more mainstream awareness working with his new C.E.O. DJ Khaled. Those in the tri-state area were probably more familiar with V then others, but Vado has the versatility and talent required to gain acceptance in any region. He can switch up the flow, perform well on party records and hold his own in a street cypher. These are factors that are important for artists so they won’t get boxed into one area. Time will tell if it’s a good look for a New York artist to link up with a traditional south oriented label. Khaled has shown a lot of patience and dedication in respects to another one of his artists Ace Hood, so we will find out if he has the same magic in setting up Vado for a long successful career.

2. White Collar

“White Collar” is the first visual of Slime Flu 4 and it brings listeners back to the raw essence Vado has displayed thus far on his journey. The Araab Muzik and A$AP Ty Beats production is pure fire, and the drums and piano sounds backing it are as menacing as they come. Vado does his thing with the bars and there is no doubt he’s still as hungry as ever.

“All day in and out of banks/
Just copped a printer and I am outta ink/
They say I’m the Last Dragon/
I’m Eddie Arcadian with the piranha tank/
I’ll send you shots like you got a drink/
Outta sync crew in the winter you see a lotta minks” – Vado

3. Pieces Of The Puzzle

Vado was recently interviewed by Freak Genius TV and Major Moves DVD to talk about his new release. “We got the Slime Flu 4 of course, and after that we got a DVD movie. We gonna put that out behind it. Right now we just shooting these videos. Once we done shooting all these videos for the mixtape, we gonna do our skits – put that thing together.” In this era it’s important to have visuals and other promotional pieces to push the music along. It seems like there is a plan in place, so be on the look out for new videos to accompany Vado’s new drop.

4. Mad Music

Not including the skits, Slime Flu 4 boasts fifteen tracks of exclusives. Vado shows his range from start to finish on the tape. “Kopy” is technically a street record, but the BenBillions and Schifekarbeeno production has crossover club potential. “Straight For The Summer” is something on the smooth tip for the ladies. “My Condolences” is heat and has Vado spittin’ his usual flames. “Fast Lane” has a vintage touch to it, using a dope sample from 80’s R&B group Surface hit record “Happy”. For the crate diggers out there, Kool G Rap and Nas also used that sample for their 1995 collab “Fast Life”. Vado has a diverse mix of styles and sounds on this mixtape that doesn’t compromise on his lyrical abilities at all.

Vado is just pure rap excellence. His work ethic historically hasn’t quite been that. Seems like this new deal is giving him some exposure. I will support anything dude does, his bars are hard.
