Nas Gets His B-Boy On, 2 Chainz Puts A Fork In It, Miley Cyrus Too Hot For TV?
Memorial Monday. It’s a day to pay respect to the veterans who have kept this country safe so why not start things off with a true hip-hop veteran like Nas getting his b-boy stance on? If anyone can strike a pose it’s 2 Chainz and he’s not taking any days off. Miley Cyrus may be loved in hip-hop but did she not get the love she wanted from the MTV EMAs? All this coming up in SOHH Whatcha Think.

1. Nas Is Like
Does Nas have a career in the movie industry? That might be the case as “God’s Son” has put the microphone down and taken part in a new documentary called Shake the Dust and it’s going to be something everyone should want to peep. EurWeb is on it:
*Nas is on board as executive producer for the dance documentary “Shake the Dust,” journalist Adam Sjoberg’s new film which sprawls across four countries to chronicle the stories of young hip-hop fans. Sjoberg discovers that through break dancing, young people are enacting social change around the globe. Film sales company Continental Media is representing the project overseas and plans to screen a portion of the feature-length documentary at the American Film Market, where it will also shop the project. Nas will also provide original music for the film.
“What these kids are doing around the world reminds me why I fell in love with hip-hop and how important it is as a creative and constructive outlet,” Nas said in a statement. “After hearing Adam’s vision for this project and hearing the stories, I was incredibly excited to help bring the film to global audiences who need to hear this surprising message of empowerment.” (EurWeb)
Could this be the start of Nas making waves in the movie biz? He’s done work on projects before but seeing him embrace a doc like this, it makes you wonder what’s up next for him. #SOHHWhatchaThink?
2. Put A Fork In It
2 Chainz might not be sitting on platinum just yet for his sophomore Def Jam solo album but that’s not stopping him from keeping the promotion going. On a very special Veteran’s Day, Chainz makes it even more memorable by putting out his new “Fork” music video. Rap-Up has the goods:
What if 2 Chainz never made it as a rapper? The platinum MC dreams of another possible outcome in the video for “Fork.” In the Parris Stewart-directed clip, he envisions himself in his former job as a drug dealer. Instead of a mansion, he’s living in a bug-infested house, and sees his homeboys cooking up crack in the kitchen. The Mike WiLL Made-It-produced song appears on his sophomore album B.O.A.T.S. II: #METIME, which debuted at No. 3 in September. (Rap-Up)
Is there any doubt 2 Chainz makes some of the best music videos in the industry? He’s been known to have creavitiy but the amount of pizazz in his visuals is quite extraordinary. #SOHHWhatchaThink?
3. Smoked Out
Even though the United States is making marijuana more and more visual and even legal in some states, it looks like there’s an urge to turn it into an evil drug. Or at least that seems to be the case after Miley Cyrus tried to lit up during the MTV EMAs last night. Deadline has the info:
UPDATED, 6:25 PM: The MTV censors have spoken. The EMAs just aired on the East Coast, and the portion of Miley Cyrus‘ acceptance speech where she lights up what looks like a joint has been cut out. In the edited version that aired in the U.S., Cyrus barely says one line before the camera cuts to an ultra wide shot of the audience and comes back to her for an awkward good-bye. (You can watch and compare the unedited and cut versions below.) Had MTV opted to leave the smoking stunt by the 20-year-old Cyrus in, the network most certainly would’ve gotten into hot water with watchdogs and parents. (Deadline)
For the greater good, it seems like MTV made the right decision. As much as weed-smoking is celebrated in the USA, the fact is Miley’s 20-years-old and almost makes it look like MTV is endorsing marijuana. #SOHHWhatchaThink?
