LeBron Names Greatest Athlete Ever, GTA V Radio Secrets Revealed, Eminem Ready To Tell All?
Turnt Up Tuesday. It’s no reason you shouldn’t feel a bit turned up today, so why not bust it all out and have LeBron James name the greatest athlete ever that’s not named LeBron James? Speaking of greatest, Grand Theft Auto V might make a bid for the greatest game but there’s still plenty to learn about what makes it so great, starting with the music. With music on your mind, is Eminem going to tell all soon? All this coming up in SOHH Whatcha Think.

1. There Can Be Only One
For the record, there’s probably never going to be another LeBron James. Much like Michael Jordan is the one and only, through thick and thin, LeBron has defined what an incredible body and physique means in the NBA and sports in general. Every detail of his body screams football but he’s dominated the game of basketball and finally has rings to support him. But is there someone even LeBron James bows down to? Complex is on it:
It’s no secret that LeBron James holds Allen Iverson in high regard. After all, in a recent interview with ESPN The Mag, LeBron admits “AI was like my second favorite player growing up,” he says, “after MJ.” So, it should come as no surprise that King James would say something like this:
RT @HarveyAraton: Here in Miami, LeBron just called Allen Iverson “pound for pound the greatest player ever”
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) October 28, 2013
Now, before you get all bent out of shape by that statement, let us just say we’re thinking James didn’t get the definition of “pound for pound” entirely clear. What we think he’s saying is that Iverson was the best at his “weight class,” so to speak. And at a paltry 165 pounds, Iverson was clearly in a league of his own. He attacked the basket like few players his size would and found an incredible amount of success, given his small basketball frame.
With all of that taken into account, you can kind of agree with Bron Bron now, no? (Complex)
Was LeBron just being kind? All in all, Allen Iverson brought things to the game of basketball that we’ve only seen at local street courts and his demeanor of being a bad boy also gave the NBA some street cred. But to call him pound-for-pound the greatest? Is LeBron serious? #SOHHWhatchaThink?
2. Turn My Headphones Up
Is Grand Theft Auto V going to be the greatest title of all-time? That certainly could be the case but for the time being it’s going to have to settle for best of the year. One of the most slept-on characteristics of the game is the outer elements that really bring it full-circle. Just like a Big Mac has the secret sauce, GTA V thrives off the little things like the pedestrians’ hilarious remarks when you bump into them and then the radio. XXL Mag has some inside info on how the radio helped uplift GTA V:
The game may be fictional, but the numbers are certainly real: $800 million in sales in one day, 13 million copies sold in 24 hours, a billion dollars earned in three days. Rockstar Games’ GTA V immediately celebrated the highest-earning video game launch in history after it dropped September 17, with everyone from Danny Brown to Tyler, The Creator reveling in the release.
But those aren’t the only striking numbers that rolled out as the game spread across the world: 241 songs, 17 radio stations and the series’ first-ever score created by a team of four producers working with Rockstar’s three-man music department all went into the massive and detailed soundscape that makes up the game’s nuanced aural experience. In addition to German electro pioneers Tangerine Dream and seasoned composer Woody Jackson, Rockstar Music Supervisor Ivan Pavlovich tapped The Alchemist and Oh No, the producers who together make up the duo Gangrene, to help map out the sounds of Los Santos’ fictional L.A., marking the first time the game would include an original score in addition to its tried-and-true radio station-based musical formula.
“The first thing we all had to remember, the most important thing, was to make sure the experience of the radio stations remained the same as all the other GTAs,” said Pavlovich in a phone interview with XXL. ”And then the purpose of the score is really to support the narrative and action of the game without ever getting in its way. Our goals were set really high for this game—we wanted to go and create as much original content as we could for the various radio stations. So we started reaching out to all of our friends, especially fans of the game.” (XXL Mag)
There’s plenty more to read, so make sure to take some time and get the whole scoop on how the radio score really came together. Whether you’re into the talk shows or the great radio tunes, there’s no denying how much fun it is to hear your favorite station when cruising the streets of GTA V. #SOHHWhatchaThink?
