Kanye West Turns Down Big Opportunity, Juicy J Offers $50K For Best Twerker Alive, Most Hilarious Drake Cover Twitter Reactions
Twisted Thursday. It’s a day full of twists, so why not untwist the top off Kanye West saying no, no, no to a huge reality television opportunity? Speaking of opportunities, if you are a female and want to shake that dun-dun-dun, you should probably contact Juicy J immediately. Speaking of things that make you stare into space, have you seen the reactions to Drake’s new Nothing Was The Same album cover? Too funny. All this coming up in SOHH Whatcha Think.

1. Un-American Idol
Does anyone think Kanye West would willingly do some reality television contest for either some free publicity or money? It appears the folks over at “American Idol” did and did not think twice about trying to lure him in. Us Magazine is all over this:
File this under “Things That Could Have Been.” Kanye West has been scarce on girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s reality show, but he very nearly became a regular on another popular reality TV series: American Idol.
A source tells Us Weekly exclusively that the hip hop star was offered the third and final spot on Idol’s judging panel for the upcoming 13th season. After thinking it over, however, he decided to pass, in part because he worried it would hurt his reputation.
“He didn’t want to go that mainstream,” the source tells Us of the “Black Skinhead” rapper, 36, who has a 2-month-old daughter, North, with Kardashian, 32. “He didn’t want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down.”
The insider notes that Idol producers also met with three other contenders for the spot: Will.i.am, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Rodney Jerkins. In the end, though, their top choice appears to be songwriter and record producer Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald). (Us Magazine)
You have to admit, it would have been a lot of fun seeing Kanye West on “American Idol” considering how crazy things became last season with Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, but he seems a bit preoccupied these days. With a newborn daughter, a relationship with Kim Kardashian and music still a priority, why would he put everything on hold for that show? #SOHHWhatchaThink?
2. Twerk To Work
Just when you thinking twerking may be on the rise, it sort of takes a fall when Juicy J decides to offer $50,000 scholarships to the best female twerker in the world. Isn’t that a bit degrading? Twerking is all fun but once you start attaching money to it, it seems a bit harsh, no? Real Talk NY is on it:
Juicy J has a track on, “Stay Trippy,” called, “Scholarship,” featuring A$AP Rocky. To celebrate his release and give back, he will be giving away a $50,000 scholarship to the woman that submits the best, “twerking,” video. So instead of just twerking for likes, women can twerk to pay for their education. “Stay Trippy,” goes on sale August 27th. (Real Talk NY)
Isn’t this borderline lap dancing and stripping? You have to wonder how many grown men will offer up something like “I’ll pay your first semester” just to get some twerk action to go down in front of them. Is twerking back to being played out? #SOHHWhatchaThink?
3. Nothing Was The Same
The cover art for Drake’s new album speaks volumes and is quite possibly some of the funniest material Twitter followers have come across. Funny in the sense of being able to flip it into their own jokes. Complex has a few notable ones:
Drake’s Nothing Was The Same has been pushed back to Sept. 24—but don’t worry, he’s keepng fans occupied with the Kadir Nelson-designed album art for the project, which he debuted via OVOSound.com tonight.
As expected, Twitter went crazy. Drake’s gearing up to perform at the MTV VMAs this weekend at the Barclays Center, and hopefully he’ll use the album art as his backdrop on stage.
Is the Nothing Was The Same cover better than Take Care”s?
Let’s let Twitter be the judge. Here is Twitter Reacts to Drake’s “Nothing Was The Same” Album Art. (Complex)
Pretty funny stuff, especially the 2K joke. Is this new album going to become the hit sensation that Take Care ended up being? #SOHHWhatchaThink?
