Joe Budden & Tahiry’s Proposal Mystery, Method Man Airs Out The Haters, Juicy J’s $50K Twerking Champ?
Thumping Tuesday. We’re moving and grooving today, so why not get things started with Joe Budden and Tahiry getting their marriage plans on deck? With hip-hop still in your mind, is Method Man bashing critics for a good reason? There may be critics of twerking but no one can hate on the good deed Juicy J did for his personal twerking pick. All this coming up in SOHH Whatcha Think.

1. The Love Game
Is Joe Budden ready to settle down with Tahiry? Better yet, is Tahiry ready to spend the rest of her life with Joe Budden? These two have been an on-again, off-again couple, but a couple nonetheless and their relationship seemed to take another twist this week thanks to “Love & Hip Hop New York.” Miss Info TV is on it:
Tonight, VH1 aired the long awaited episode of Love and Hip Hop New York featuring Joe Budden’s Times Square proposal to his on-again off-again lady love, Tahiry. Videos from bystanders surfaced on instagram back in early November, 2013 showing a touching big screen declaration of love from Joe, and a dressed up Tahiry talking intently to her man on the street. Nobody seemed to catch any snapshots of the results. No tearful embrace. No joyful celebration…so what gives?
On tonight’s episode, you see more of the lead up to the proposal. There’s Joe Budden picking out the engagement ring with some jeweler named Mr. Flawless, there are aggressive eyeshadow, swiss-cheese spandex dresses, Spanish girls fighting over Rich Dollaz (lolz) and then Joe gathers his friends and family members to witness his “question.” But once again, the ending was ambiguous.
You can’t blame the network for milking it with a cliffhanger, but will fans who have tagged along for the Joe and Tahiry rollercoaster since 2009 be excited by a “Yes,” or relieved by a “No”?
(or maybe a better question is…was the proposal too late for real life and just conveniently timed for mid-season ratings?) (Miss Info TV)
Considering how much time has passed since November, is it safe to say nothing ever happened? Even worse, was this all staged or is there really a serious proposal answer waiting for us? It’s hard to imagine Joe and Tahiry being able to stay silent on all of this. Will we know soon? #SOHHWhatchaThink?
2. Tickin’ Tical Off
Does Method Man have a right to bash his haters? Of course he does but with the mixed reviews and reactions to FX’s new “Chozen” cartoon, is he taking things a bit too personally? XXL Mag has his rant covered:
The show hasn’t even aired yet and it’s already making headlines. Method Man will star as one of the characters on the new FX series Chozen, which chronicles the life of a gay white rapper released from prison and even with the show’s touchy material, Meth is not taking to critics too lightly.
Method Man recently took to his Twitter page to lash out at commenters simply telling them to “F*ck off.” The rapper voices one of the characters on the show that is said to entail much raunchy humor and poke fun at hip-hop’s well known homophobia.
In previous interviews, Method Man has said that he joined the cast as a favor for a friend and was surprised when the series got picked up by FX. (XXL Mag)
Does Method Man have a point? This is only a cartoon and for people to overthink what it means to the cutlure as a whole may be worth noting. Could “Chozen” hurt the hip-hop game? #SOHHWhatchaThink?
3. Twerk For Work
Is Juicy J a twerk addict? That might be for another discussion but he made sure to keep his word on a $50,000 scholarship for twerking. Rap-Up has the info:
Juicy J is paying for one woman’s college education. After hundreds of submissions over the past few months, the “Bandz a Make Her Dance” rapper has awarded his $50,000 “twerking” scholarship to 19-year-old mother Zaire Holmes, a biology major at the State College of Florida.
But unlike her fellow entrants, Holmes did not twerk her way to a win. Instead, she read the complete rules, which did not require any twerking to enter.
Juicy surprised her with a $50,000 check and invited her to one of his recording sessions, where she showed off her rapping skills.
“A lot of people thought that you had to twerk, but you actually had to read the rules,” said Holmes, while Juicy added, “It’s not always about shaking your ass.”
The money was paid directly to the State College of Florida for her 2015 tuition. (Rap-Up)
Will this scholoarship turn into more good deeds being done by other artists? It’s hard to only see the good in this when you consider twerking was involved to win. But if you consider the greater good, was there any real harm done? #SOHHWhatchaThink?
