Diddy’s Life-Changing Experience, Kevin Durant Gives Free Shoes Away, Samsung Galaxy Note 3?

Thriving Thursday. We’re thriving today, so why not get things started with Diddy going through a life-changing experience? Speaking of experiences, is Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant going around giving out free sneakers to anyone? Something everyone will wish is free is the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3. 1. Never Be The Same

Is Diddy getting too trippy out at the Burning Man this week? You might think so if you’re following him on Twitter/Instagram and saw what he posted up last night. Complex has the whole rundown:

Burning Man, the renowned anti-capitalist art festival/utopian music and nudity experiment that takes place in the Nevada desert each summer, is a popular destination for people from all walks of life looking to come together and do stuff like scrape the dirt off of each others’ naked bodies.

And, as anyone who’s ever been cornered at a party by some New Age zealot or faux-bohemian tech entrepreneur knows, no matter who you are, you will invariably come back from your Burning Man experience describing it as “life-changing” and unable to talk about anything else. The reasons for this are self-evident: Who wouldn’t want to live in a barter economy where there are massive raves every night and no one will look at you twice for wearing body paint head to toe?

It seems that even the world’s richest rapper is not immune to lure of living in a cash-free society and immediately coming home to tell all his friends about how great it was. Earlier tonight, Diddy posted an Instagram picture of himself in an awesome white and gold captain’s outfit with the caption “#BurningMan Words cannot explain! I’ll never be the same. Do u see the glove?”

While the meaning of the gold-sequined glove may be limited to those who have seen the unknowable in Black Rock Desert, there’s no doubt Diddy is repping the festival, since he’s wearing a necklace in the shape of the Robot Heart, the main rave installation.

He was also captured in the moment by another Instagram user, and Burning Man group on Facebook posted about him being present. (Complex)

2. Tip-Off

It’s not even close to the NBA season starting back up but if you have noticed, most NBA players have kept themselves pretty active this summer, but none more than Kevin Durant. He’s helped out victims of disaster in OKC, he’s signed with Roc Nation and now it looks like he’s giving away free sneakers? Smoking Section is up on it:

Last summer was Kevin Durant’s on the court, but this one’s been his alone off the court in ad campaigns. Easy Money Sniper’s made a showing for himself as part of Nike’s “Summer Is Serious” campaign as well as Foot Locker’s series of spots.

Now, he’s starring in the Kevin Durant Investigates (KDI) “New Season. Are you Ready?” campaign led by Nike Basketball and Foot Locker as KD, the investigator who’s on a mission to inspire and reward young athletes actively preparing for their upcoming seasons. For those that are ready, KD and his special set agent assistants award the youngsters with free gear.

The ad spots ties in with Durant’s first tour of Europe, a six-day excursion that will find him in Paris, Milan, Rome and Barcelona beginning September 3 through September 9. Along the way, he’ll be hosting and participating in events geared towards making young athletes “ready” for the new season may hold. (Smoking Section)

3. Brand New

Samsung is not removing its foot from the pedal and continues to whip out new products in light of their Samsung Galaxy success. If one and two weren’t enough, feast your eyes on the third model in the Samsung Galaxy Note series. HypeBeast has the shot:

In addition to showing off the new Galaxy Gear smartwatch, Samsung also unveiled the upcoming Galaxy Note 3. Emphasizing an increased role in the lifestyles of its users, the Note 3 will include enhanced S Pen functionality as well as a larger 5.7 Super AMOLED display. In particular, the new device will introduce Air Command, an intuitive set of five different features designed to make for better multitasking. Other features include My Magazine, a one-stop app for personalized news, social media and entertainment, and enhancements to the Group Play application including video sharing where users can connect up to five devices together to make a bigger screen.
