Dave Chappelle’s Latest Meltdown, Foam Finger Creator Pissed At Miley Cyrus, X-Box One & PS4 Battle Heats Up

Festive Friday. It’s finally here, the start to the three-day weekend and what better way to kick it off than Dave Chappelle storming off a stage with a meltdown? Sounds like somebody could use this holiday weekend to let off some steam. Someone else a bit angry is the creator of the foam finger after seeing what Miley Cyrus managed to do with it at the VMAs last weekend. They’re not here yet but the competition between the X-Box One and Playstation 4 is getting pretty intense especially considering some new technology both systems will have. All this coming up in SOHH Whatcha Think.

1. Get Well Soon

Is Dave Chappelle on the brink of a comeback? It doesn’t look like it but that’s not stopping him from doing stand-up comedy shows throughout the nation and a stop in Connecticut last night didn’t end too well for either himself or the fans who attended looking for some big laughs. TMZ is on it:

What did the five fingers say to Dave Chappelle? GIMME MY MONEY BACK!!

Chappelle is under fire after storming off the stage at a comedy show in Connecticut last night. The comic apparently had a meltdown after being heckled by people in the crowd.

According to NBC Connecticut, Chappelle had only been on stage for a few minutes when he started to become frustrated with the number of comments from the audience.

Chappelle reportedly stopped his routine — lectured the crowd about heckling — and then quietly sat on a stool for the next 25 minutes before finally walking off stage.

Now, according to NBC, several fans who attended the show are demanding a refund.

It’s not the first time Chappelle has exhibited bizarre behavior — he stopped his show in Miami back in 2011 to check his text messages … and in 2010, he “freaked out” on a flight from Jersey to Ohio. (TMZ)

It’s only a matter of time before footage of this turns up online. Is Dave Chappelle losing it or did the audience go a bit too far? You would imagine fans in Connecticut would have some class, so it’s hard to think they were obnoxious. Could Dave Chappelle have freaked out? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

2. Gold Finger

Did Miley Cyrus go too far with her foam finger at the Video Music Awards last weekend? Without a doubt, but did she go as far as to bring shame to the annual awards show and even make the creator of the foam finger ashamed? That’s arguable. Fox News surprisingly has the creator’s reaction to Miley’s now-infamous finger antics:

When a 16-year-old Steve Chmelar created the original “No. 1 hand” as a way to support his high school basketball team at the Iowa state championships in 1971, he never expected to see one used in quite the way Miley Cyrus did at the MTV Video Music Awards.

But Chmelar, now a 59-year-old VP of commercial sales at a construction supply company, says he’s gotten attention, nonetheless, since the 20-year-old pop star’s salacious antics shined a new light on his creation, which can be found these days in most any stadium or arena in the country in the form of a foam finger.

“For people that like that kind of entertainment, I’m sure that it met their needs,” Chmelar said. “If I had a choice between Julie Andrews singing ‘The Sound of Music’ and Miley Cyrus doing ‘Can’t Stop,’ I’d go the Julie Andrews route, but everyone has their choice and their decision.

“I would say that it certainly misrepresented its intent to encourage team support,” Chmelar added. “She took an honorable icon that is seen in sporting venues everywhere and degraded it. Fortunately, the foam finger has been around long enough that it will survive this incident. As for Miley Cyrus, let’s hope she can outlive this event and also survive.” (Fox News)

In all fairness, is Steve Chmelar going a bit too far right here? We can’t deny Miley did some unthinkable things with the foam finger but to say she degraded it worse than anyone else? What about the middle finger-waving foam hands? Miley might not be everyone’s cup of tea but to make her the most demonic person to put on a foam finger? That’s a stretch. #SOHHWhatchaThink?

3. There Can Be Only One

If you haven’t decided whether you’re going to stay loyal to X-Box One or just ship to the Playstation 4 this November, Microsoft is probably really happy and made sure to stay up with the latest updates coming from Sony. For those of us who cannot spend 24 hours in front of their television sets and game consoles, the latest update is a dream come true. Complex has the skinny:

Sony and Microsoft have both confirmed that their next-gen systems will automatically download new games and applications that users purchase while away from their machines.

The feature means that gamers can purchase a game or application on either the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 and in their respective low-power modes the consoles will download the content then, return to idle or sleep modes. Finally, an advantage to always-on system. Now we can buy a game while leaving the office and start playing when we get home.

Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida tweeted that “When you buy a PS4 game on smartphone, it will wake your PS4 up to start downloading the game. PS4 goes back to sleep after” and with Xbox One’s always-on, low power mode Marc Whitten confirmed that this is just another advantage to having an always-on up-to-date mode. (Complex)

Remote updates? Why haven’t these companies thought of ideas like this sooner? Think of all the times you knew you had to get back home to download a new Call of Duty map or unlock new modes via a download? This update gives you the luxury of knocking out all of the tedious labor you would do at your television and wait and wait and wait to the point almost all of the fun is gone by the time the download has completed. X-Box One is still in the race but can Sony provide another big update to get an edge before November? #SOHHWhatchaThink?
