Reason 1: The Same Journey
The first reason is because the album is very relatable. I feel like people can relate to the concept of being somewhere and wanting to transcend to greater heights which is really the main story behind Last Winter. It goes back to the last two winters and before I put out my mixtape last May, which had me touring, I just wasn’t in a very good place. Me and my producer, we were living together in my parents’ basement in New York making music and we were pretty broke for the most part, it’s cold in the New York basement and whenever we would make a hot record or do something we were really proud of, we would say, “Last winter. We’re going to be somewhere we want to be.” I think a lot of people can relate to the concept of being somewhere one year and setting goals to transcend to a different place.
