1. Get Well Soon, Chance!

He’s only 21 but Chance the Rapper has a very promising music career ahead of him. After killing it at Coachella a couple weekends ago, he sent some fear when he had to nix his sets this past Sunday over an illness. Although feeling better now, could his road to recovery take longer than expected? Rap-Up has some info:

Chance the Rapper is recovering at home after falling ill last week.

His manager, Patrick Corcoran, posted a letter on Twitter updating fans on the Acid Rap MC’s condition.

Just hours before his performance during the second weekend of Coachella on Sunday, the 21-year-old canceled due to an undisclosed illness.

His manager has since revealed that Chance had 104-degree fever and was unable to speak due to the inflammation in his throat. He was admitted to the hospital and has since returned to his L.A. home where he is recovering.

His doctors attributed his illness to a combination of the flu and tonsillitis. He is scheduled to see a specialist this week to determine if surgery is necessary.

Per doctors’ orders, he has canceled his remaining shows during the week of April 23-27. (Rap-Up)

Get well soon, Chance! #SOHHWhatchaThink?

2. Good Eats

Is Jay Z back to eating healthy? Could he have put the fondue down and tried some greener delights? Is Beyoncé behind this alleged diet-changing return? The Daily Mail UK has info:

They completed 22 days of a vegan diet back in December. But it looks like Jay-Z and Beyonce don’t need a challenge to go back to cruelty-free eating. The 44-year-old hip-hop mogul and his pop singer wife, 32, were seen leaving the Crossroads restaurant in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The Mediterranean-themed vegan-friendly restaurant by Chef Tal Ronnen is a favourite amoung celebrities that have chosen a meat and dairy-less lifestyle. Beyonce tried going incognito for the midday meal as she left hiding her face behind an Apple Macbook laptop with a purple case. (The Daily Mail)

Does this mean they are back to being vegan? Could they have just wanted some non-meat and non-dairy food options? Is the diet back on? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

3. She’s Back

It’s no secret Nicki Minaj is back in full effect but with all of this new music and a recent album promise, should we expect her LP to drop in a few weeks? Rap-Up has the skinny:

Sorry Barbz, The Pink Print is not coming May 5. Nicki Minaj has shut down the rumored release date for her third album.

Earlier this month, the rapper tweeted “Cinco De Mayo,” prompting some fans to assume that the follow-up to 2012′s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded would arrive that day.

But she put the rumors to rest when “The Insider” caught up with her at the premiere of The Other Woman.

“My album is not dropping on May 5, hell no,” said Nicki. “My fans are once again thinking they know something that they really don’t.”

She is, however, putting out a song in a week-and-a-half, which may explain the May 5 date. (Rap-Up)

When will we see the full album? With Nicki going back to her hip-hop roots, could the music only get better? Is she going to keep teasing us? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

Jay Z’s A ‘Stupid Kid Smoking Blunts’, Beats Music Struggling After 100 Days, Big Sean Makes History?

Tasty Tuesday. It’s a day full of tasty things, so why not start it off with Jay Z‘s ex-producer trying to extort his music for millions? Speaking of unbelievable things, is Beats Music really having a tough start to the streaming game? Everyone thought they would do it big like Big Sean making history at the White House? All this coming up in SOHH Whathcha Think.

[Editor's Note: The views expressed in this column do not necessarily reflect those of SOHH]

1. He Will Not Lose

There’s some serious crime going down and even though it involves Jay Z, it has him as the victim. Whether you can believe it or not, there are some masters from 1998 through 2002 and an ex-employee is trying to make a pretty penny. A lot has transpired over the past few days and TMZ is all over it:

TMZ broke the story … Chauncey Mahan was detained by police Friday after Jay Z’s people accused him of stealing the master recordings for several big songs back in 2002 — and then trying to hold them for ransom — a $100,000 “storage fee.”

But Chauncey insists the allegations are BS — telling TMZ, he didn’t steal jack … Def Jam asked him to keep track of the recordings in 2002 because no one else was doing it. According to Chauncey, Jay Z “was a stupid kid smoking blunts” who was reckless with his intellectual property.

What’s more, over the last 10 years, Chauncey says he’s repeatedly notified Jay Z’s people that he was in possession of the masters, and they blew him off. He says he finally asked for money last week when he could no longer afford to keep the masters in storage.

Chauncey says he asked for $100,000 to compensate him for keeping the recordings safe for 12 years. FYI, the masters are for Jay Z’s “Volume 3″ and “Dynasty” albums — including huge songs like “Big Pimpin” and “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me).”

And this is interesting: Chauncey says some of the masters sound awful … which might explain why Jay Z is freaking out.

As we reported, police have since taken possession of the tapes until a judge can determine rightful ownership. (TMZ)

A stupid kid smoking blunts? That sounds a bit extreme. Could there be any hope for this guy? It seems like this might get very messy, especially if Jay Z has to bring his own legal team into the matter. #SOHHWhatchaThink?

2. Struggle Music

Are you a subscriber of Beats Music? There’s so many streaming music options out there, most notably Spotify so you had to wonder what really made Beats Music think they could just storm the biz? Then again, headphones were out well before Beats By Dre and now look at the industry? Billboard has some interesting reports:

Although the labels remain supportive of Beats Music for the long term, these sources estimate early subscriber numbers as “disappointing” despite a marketing launch valued in the “tens of millions of dollars.” (Beats has not released subscriber numbers, but labels have gauged use by its revenue impact.) The push included a splashy Ellen DeGeneres Super Bowl TV ad and the lucrative mobile phone bundling partnership with AT&T, the No. 2 wireless carrier in the United States, which has 110 million mobile customers. Sprint, the No. 3 carrier, has 54 million, which should put Spotify at a competitive disadvantage.

The key metric for the labels is the so-called “conversion rate” — the rate at which free trials to road-test a streaming service lead to paying subscribers. Label sources estimate the Beats Music subscriber count to be in the “low six figures.” Beats representatives declined to comment for this story, but company insiders argue that subscriptions and consumer reaction has met expectations and that the “millions of people” trying out the service exceeded internal projections. (Billboard)

Could this all turn into a positive in the near future? Would a few tweaks fix this problem? Could Beats Music have already met its demise or is everyone jumping the gun right now? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

3. The White Party

Did Big Sean do something no other hip-hop artist has done? It looks like despite how many rap stars President Barack Obama is down with, Big Sean may have been the first to takeover the White House? TMZ is on it:

Jay Z? Kanye West? Lil Wayne? Nope, not one of those prolific rappers has ever performed at the White House, but after yesterday’s performance … Big Sean can say he has.

Alongside pop pixie Ariana Grande, Big Sean took the stage at The 2014 Easter Egg Roll on Monday. Our photog in D.C. caught the pair on their way into the event, where he was understandably excited for the show.

While Common performed poetry at the White House back in 2011, no rapper has ever performed a White House event … until now.

Did anyone else see this coming? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

Too Short Won’t Take Shots At Hitler, Cassidy Raps About Mimi’s Sex Tape, Jhené Aiko Nip-Slip Ready?

Moving Monday. It’s a day to keep things moving, so why not start things off with Too Short starting a beef against…Adolf Hitler? Speaking of weird instances, did Cassidy take time to rap about Mimi Faust‘s new sex tape? It wasn’t a sex tape, but Jhené Aiko teased the entire world with what seemed to be some serious nip slips? All this coming up in SOHH Whatcha Think.

1. Blowing Smoke

Does Too Short have a problem with Adolf Hitler? Even better, if he did, would anyone care? Even worst, if he didn’t, wouldn’t everyone be upset? It looks like he said some certain words directed toward the deceased German leader. TMZ is all over it:

Too Short doesn’t hate Hitler … because things worked out and Jews are still alive and well.

We got Short Saturday at The Forum in L.A. and asked the weed enthusiast if the joy of 4/20 was dampened by the fact it’s also Hitler’s birthday.

Short fired back … “Hitler got his. He is where he’s supposed to be,” adding, “What happened was supposed to happen.”

He goes on to say in the end the Germans didn’t wipe out all the Jews. True enough … only 6 million.

We kinda know what Short is trying to say … that the world recovered. His choice of words, however … well, maybe he was high. (TMZ)

Did Too Short go too far with his words? At some point he probably should have just kept it moving but that didn’t exactly go down as such right here. Can you respect what he’s trying to say though? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

2. The Cass Is Back

Is Cassidy one of the biggest “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” fans in the world? You might think so after hearing his new “Chi-raq” freestyle. It’s over four minutes and shows him addressing the Mimi Faust sex tape. XXL Mag has this covered:

Despite putting a fork in his battle rap career, Cassidy can still spit bars that’ll hurt your feelings. In his latest “Chi-raq (Freestyle),” Cassidy surveys the Mimi Faust sex tape scandal giving his two cents on situation. (XXL Mag)

In all fairness, Cassidy really didn’t spend much time or attention on the sex tape. He makes references to FILA, Fubu, K. Michelle, Mimi Faust, shower rods and groupies making movies? Actually, he really did go in on her. #SOHHWhatchaThink?

3. What A Tease

Jhené Aiko may be on the verge of hitting Rihanna status both in terms of music and beauty. She’s making big splashes across the world and what she did at this past weekend’s Coachella concert just wasn’t right. The Daily Mail UK has the shots:

But while her music dominated on Sunday, it was mother-of-one Jhené’s cleavage which garnered attention as she worked her way through an otherwise low-key set.

The mellow songstress appeared to have emulated raunchy star Miley Cyrus with a revealing ensemble that afforded her the opportunity to reveal perhaps a little too much.

Fortunately, Jhené had the foresight to cover her nipples with large plasters, thus ensuring her appearance wasn’t entirely overshadowed by her outfit. (Daily Mail UK)

Did Jhené play it extra safe or was this originally part of her outfit? For such a small woman, does her body speak volumes? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

That about wraps it up for today. This is SOHH On The Spot giving you the morning scoop from your favorite gossip sites.
