Despite the shooting taking place last May, police have yet to place charges onto a suspect, which likely prompted the reward offering.

A $25,000 reward has been offered in the murder of Monte Ray Talbert, known to his fans as “M-Bone” of the hip hop group Cali Swag District. The group made its mark with the hit song “Teach Me How to Dougie.” Talbert was shot in the head outside a liquor store in the 400 block of North La Brea Avenue in Inglewood on May 15, 2011. Inglewood officials are offering the reward, hoping it’ll lead to the arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for the murder. Anyone with information was asked to call the Inglewood Police Department at (310) 412-5246 or the 24-hour anonymous hotline number at (888) 41-CRIME. (ABC Local)

Following the murder, the late rapper’s girlfriend said their neighbor should be considered a suspect.

The girlfriend — who is scared and does not want her name used — confirms M-Bone was in a Twitter war with the jealous man, which we previously reported. We’re told the jealous man made threats of violence. The girlfriend tells us … on Sunday … she picked M-Bone up at the airport at 12:15PM and took him back to their apartment. Later that night, at around 10PM, M-Bone took her car and said he was going to the studio to record. She tells us soon after she got a call from another member of Cali Swag with the devastating news her boyfriend had been shot. (TMZ)

The rapper’s life was taken away on May 15th.

Talbert was shot twice in the head Sunday night in the 400 block of North La Brea Avenue, said Lt. Steve Overly of the Inglewood Police Department, when someone pointed a gun out a car window and fired multiple shots. Talbert died later at a hospital. (Los Angeles Times)

His rap crew later released a tribute record in his honor called “How To Do That.”

The remaining three members of Cali Swag District remember their fallen comrade Montae “M-Bone” Talbert with the tribute song “How to Do That.” JayAre, Smoove Da General, and Yung reflect on happier days while keeping M-Bone’s memory alive. “Then a ni**a did you wrong/ On your way to get a blunt, you shoulda put it in a bong/ M-Bone lives through me, Smoove, and Yung/ So when we all turnt up, he still having fun,” raps JayAre.
