[With his new Barrel Brothers joint album finally available for purchase, Brooklyn native Skyzoo gives SOHH readers the inside scoop on his all-time favorite collaborative projects and his personal hook-up wish list.]
The Infamous Mobb Deep is definitely one of my all-time favorite collaboration albums. That '95 album is definitely one of my favorites.
A lot of people are great duos but never got a chance to put out an album. We never got a Nas and AZ. We never got a Jay Z and Biggie. We never got Raekwon and Ghostface. We kinda got them, I can say Purple Tape, I guess, because Ghost is on about ten of the twenty tracks.
Redman and Method Man's Blackout!, of course, is one of my favorites. Anything from the early EPMD days. I like EPMD's Back In Business. It was one of their later joints. It just makes me remember high school. In '98, I was in tenth grade. I really like that album. I don't know, I think it was the production, the beats on it, I remember cutting a lot of school. I actually remember breaking out early, running around, doing different little things. I liked that Back To Business album. It was good to see them come back.
If I could name my dream collaboration album, I would want to have seen Big and Jay. Hands down. I don't even have to think about it. We were supposed to get it but it wasn't going to be just the two of them. It would have been the two of them leading it and then Charli Baltimore was going to be down and it was going to be the whole Commission.
I think if it was just Big and Jay in '96, '97, '98, if it was around then, it would have been something. If you listen to the few joints they have, you could tell it would have been something.
