Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West reunited with close pal/comedian Dave Chappelle last night (June 20) in New York for an unexpected appearance at his stand-up show. #DaveBack
According to reports, Yeezus performed a handful of his notable hits dating back to the mid-2000's in Manhattan.
The rapper, who wasn't announced as a guest performer, played a surprise mini-concert during the second of the comedian's 10-night show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. West tackled his hits including "Jesus Walks", "Gold Digger" and "New Slaves". Midway through his performance of "Gold Digger", Kim Kardashian's husband jumped off the stage and rapped his verses in the middle of the crowd. (Ace Showbiz)
Along with Ye, Chappelle has relied on recruiting a slew of big musicians to perform at his limited comedy run.
Chappelle kicked off his 10-night run at the Radio City Music Hall on Wednesday, June 18. Nas, The Roots, Busta Rhymes, DJ Premier, Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu have all been added to the line-up of guest performers. (Ace Showbiz)
Recently, Dave talked about the first time he met Kanye face-to-face.
But the best story to emerge from the appearance was the first time Chappelle met a then-unknown rapper named Kanye West. Chappelle gave West his first appearance on television as a musical guest on The Dave Chappelle Show back in 2003. "You could tell that he was going to be a star," the comedian said on Fallon. "I didn't know him until he did the show." (TIME)
Appearing on the "Late Show" last week, Chappelle did not hold back on why he turned down a $50 million television deal.
"I don't talk about it -- technically, I never quit. I'm seven years late for work. It's like getting divorced in the 50's. People didn't go to Divorce Court. They'd look at their wife like, 'Baby, I'm going to get a pack of cigarettes, I'll be right back.' [laughs] ... I look at it like this: I'm at a restaurant with my wife, it's a nice restaurant and we're eating dinner. I look across the room and say, 'You see this guy across the room. He has $100 million dollars', and we're eating the same entree. Okay, fine, I don't have $50 million dollars or whatever it was. Let's say I have $10 million in the bank. The difference in lifestyle is miniscule. The only difference between having $10 million dollars and $50 million dollars is an astounding $40 million dollars." ("The Late Show")
