Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has fans scratching their heads today (April 1) after appearing to join in on the annual April Fools Day pranks with a confusing tweet.
Weezy F. Baby jumped onto his Twitter page and seemed to kill past reports of his impending retirement.
"I'm retiring...April f••kin foolz!," Wayne tweeted April 1. (Lil Wayne's Twitter)
The Louisiana native recently reflected on his plans to stop making albums.
Asked about his legacy as he nears his self-imposed retirement age of 33, he said he used to want to be remembered in the same way The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur and Jay Z are thought of. Now, he'd prefer folks think of him as a beloved figure. "I would just say I'd like to be remembered as a good spirit, a good soul, like a Willie Nelson ... like a Snoop Dogg," Wayne said. (AP)
Outside of going down memory lane, Wayne talked about his upcoming Tha Carter V album a few weeks ago.
"25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this," Weezy told MTV News after taking a deep breath and a second to think out his answer. "I didn't smile when I said it," he pointed out to us in an effort to show just how serious he really is. "I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it's definitely the final Carter album. It's the final Carter album. It's stopping at five." (MTV)
Over summer 2013, Weezy said he saw himself hanging up the microphone after Carter V dropped.
"Yes, very true," Wayne said when asked if his retirement plans are still on deck. "I want to retire after Tha Carter V which I hope will be my last album. My next album's not Tha Carter V because I think I have to work on other albums as well with my pop, Birdman, and things like that. But after Tha Carter V, I hope I can retire. [laughs] ... [I'll be able to do] things like spend quality time with my kids." ("The Jimmy Kimmel Show")
