New York rapper Ja Rule is the latest hip-hop artist to come forward and speak out on the Donald Sterling controversy following a leaked racist audio recording.
Rule unleashed an emotional rant toward Sterling and suggested NBA players should take a public stand on Sunday (April 27).
"We can't just put this all on the clipper players we as a people must also take a stand... #BoycottClippers," Rule tweeted April 27.
"All nba players should refuse to play in his building... #F*ckDonaldDuckSterling"
"There are some things more important than pursuing a championship!!! #StandForNothing kkklippers or slaves..."
"Now I'm rooting for Golden state blow these puppets the f*ck out..."
"This is what's wrong with our society ppl only see what's right in front of them they lack vision and therefore can't see the bigger picture"
"I'm just venting it's not the clippers fault their owner is a racist piece of sh*t I just wish they would have done more to make a statement" (Ja Rule's Twitter)
Over the weekend, West Coast rapper Game announced how he would join the protest against Sterling.
"I have now started the #ESC which is short for #EMPTYSEATCAMPAIN asking ALL Los Angeles residents to boycott the next Clippers game by not attending which will prove that we are more of a MAJORITY than the previously stated "minority" label given to us by Mr. Sterling. Although I feel for friends of mine that play for the Clippers franchise such as @CP3 whose own team owner considers a minority...... I now, along with good friend & designer @ceoselfmade ask everyone who reads this WORLDWIDE to RE-POST this picture & hashtag: #BoycottClippers #ESC #EmptySeatCampaign #Support #OGMagicJohnson #StopRacism #OneWorld #WeAreAMajorityFollowing" (Game's Instagram)
Heading into the weekend, Snoop Dogg aired out the NBA executive in a video.
"A message to the motherf*cker that own the Clippers, you b*tch a**, redneck, white-bread, chicken sh*t motherf*cker. F*ck you, your mama and everything connected to you, you racist piece of sh*t. F*ck you." (Snoop Dogg's Instagram)
Sterling's controversial audio recording surfaced online early Saturday.
"It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you're associating with black people. Do you have to?" (3:30) -- "You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on that ... and not to bring them to my games." (5:15) -- "I'm just saying, in your lousy f******* Instagrams, you don't have to have yourself with, walking with black people." (7:45) -- "...Don't put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don't bring him to my games." (9:13) (TMZ)
