Atlanta rapper Young Dro and Game are keeping the late Notorious B.I.G.'s memory alive on the anniversary of his passing nearly 20 years ago.
Young Dro released a new song called "Notorious D.R.O." in Biggie's honor Sunday (March 9).
Young Dro might be the last person one would expect to pay homage to The Notorious B.I.G. with a song, but that is exactly what he has put out on Biggie's death anniversary. Rhyming over a remake of "Hypnotize," Dro tries to channel the charisma of Biggie, and frankly raps his ass off in the process. Of course, Dro was not the only person to release a Biggie tribute. Another notable effort was producer !llmind's "Picasso Biggie," a unique remix to "Picasso Baby" that reworks the beat and adds Biggie's vocals from "Sky's The Limit." (Complex)
Game jumped onto his Instagram page to pay homage to the late hip-hop icon.
"Today 17 years ago, The King of NY was murdered in Los Angeles. His legacy & music lives on. Rest In Paradise..... #Notorious," Game wrote March 9. (Game's Instagram)
Earlier this winter, B.I.G.'s ex-wife Faith Evans spoke on his unsolved murder case.
"We just basically stopped spending our money on trying to hope that the LAPD was gonna do, you know, their part. You know what I'm saying? It's not closed. It's just a matter of when they really feel like they wanna do the right thing 'cause we in our hearts kinda feel like we know what happened and we believe that they know what happened. You know, we'll probably be the biggest case in the city's history." ("Arsenio")
In late December 2012, a graphic autopsy report on B.I.G.'s murder surfaced online.
The report confirms Wallace -- who was listed at 6'1", 395 lbs -- was struck a total of 4 times in a drive-by shooting on Wilshire Blvd while the 24-year-old rapper sat in the passenger seat of a Chevy Suburban. According to the report, 3 of the shots were NOT fatal. -- Gunshot #1 struck Wallace in the left forearm and traveled down to his wrist. -- Gunshot #2 struck Wallace in the back, missed all vital organs, and exited through his left shoulder. -- Gunshot #3 struck Wallace on his outer left thigh and exited through his inner left thigh. The reports says .. after Gunshot #3 exited the thigh, "the projectile strikes the left side of the scrotum, causing a very shallow, 3/8 inch linear laceration." The fatal bullet was Gunshot #4 ... which entered Wallace's body through his right hip and ripped its way through several vital organs ... before coming to rest in his left shoulder area. According to the report, the bullet perforated Wallace's colon, liver, heart and the upper lobe of his left lung. (TMZ)
