News: With DMX Fight In The Air, George Zimmerman Press Conference Suffers Setback
Saturday, Feb 8, 2014 1:48PM
As anticipation and anger mount over a publicized celebrity boxing match between rapper DMX and George Zimmerman, new reports claim a scheduled press conference has been nixed.
According to celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman, the media day will likely take place right before the actual match goes down.
"There's not going to be any press conference [next week] due to all the controversy," explains Feldman, suggesting that a press conference may happen two days before the event instead. (Feldman later clarified that there would be a press conference next week, but that Zimmerman wouldn't be at it.) But Feldman says that the Zimmerman-DMX boxing match will happen on March 15th as planned, regardless of the growing opposition to it. He has not announced a location for the fight. Heading into the weekend, DMX revealed his confidence in dominating the controversial face-off.
"I was challenged," X said in an interview. "I still haven't really decided if I was going to do it but if I did do it, whatever money was supposed to go to him would have to go to charity. ... I will glady beat the sh*t out of him. ... When you fight with your heart, you're always going to win." (Fox Carolina News)
In light of the proposed fight, there is an active petition trying to prevent the event from going down.
Celebrity Boxing Promoter Damon Feldman & George Zimmerman are attempting to promote and profit off of racial tensions in America. Damon Feldman has been known for fixing fights and taking short cuts in the past in bypassing state requirements for fighters to obtain a license to box. Mr Feldmans past should be highly considered in this regard if Feldman is not going through the proper channels to ensure the safety of the participants it puts lives at risk. In addition the entire idea of this event is to use racial tensions to lure people in to purchase the event. This will only hurt America as it will continue to stir up racial tensions that have been on going in this nation for quite some time. No Promoter or Celebrity Boxer should ever be allowed to use racial tension to profit. (We The People)
Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman recently said Zimmerman turned down over 15,000 fight requests and set his eyes on Dark Man X.
Let's get ready to ... mumble. As in, what now, George Zimmerman? Seems like the former neighborhood watchman has found yet another way to remain in the public limelight. This time, he'll be stepping into a boxing ring to fight rapper DMX. Early Wednesday morning, Feldman said he's picked the contender. Out of more than 15,000 e-mailed requests, he's going with DMX. "The match will be one of the Biggest Celebrity Boxing matches of all time," his news release said (uppercase emphasis his). But in order to find out where and when it will take place, we'll have to wait until next week. (CNN)
