News: Rick Ross' Prized Possession, Brand's Symbol Comes Back To Life

Miami rapper Rick Ross no longer has to worry about his record label's image being tarnished or even outdated as new reports claim Mercedes has brought back its Maybach line.
After meeting its demise in 2011, the luxury high-end vehicle line has resurrected its Maybach series.
Gangster rappers and royalty rejoice -- two years after the brand was axed due to poor sales, the ultra-luxury limousine marque is making a return. The new ultra-luxury cars will be ultra-long-wheelbase versions of the company's new flagship S Class model and will take the comfort up to 11. The cars will have larger, rectangular rear doors for effortless ingress and egress, and the rear compartment will contain every creature comfort needed to work or recline in comfort while someone else takes care of the driving. Interested buyers will have an opportunity to cop one of the fancy models sometime this year.
This time around it looks as if it has learned its lesson. The current S Class is the most technologically advanced car currently available and one of the best big cars to drive. Therefore, anything that makes it even more comfortable will make it even more desirable. Then there is the question of price. According to Autoweek, this time around the cars are expected to cost $250,000-$300,000 before customization or bespoke treatments -- in other words roughly the same as a Rolls Royce or Bentley. The new Maybach is expected to launch some time in 2014 and could make a surprise debut at the upcoming Geneva motor show this March. (The Morning Sun)
Back in early 2012, Rick Ross spoke on his Maybach Music Group brand being built around the fancy vehicle and its discontinuation.
"I think, just that level of luxury is just inspiration for people who started, like myself, who just looked and fantasized," Ross said in an interview. "I look at it as it makes the brand even more exclusive now. I think the cars are going to become even more expensive now, so everybody who has one, hold on to it for a little while. ... When we say Maybach Music, it's not about the car, it's just about the level of quality and the time that we put into the sound and that was just a way to express it where people could really understand it," he said. "We done got a lot of love, so shout out to everybody that support double M-G." (MTV)
In November 2011, reports hit the Internet and announced Maybach's discontinuation within two years.
Mercedes-Benz's ultra-luxury Maybach brand will be no more starting in 2013, according to the Detroit News. While having a century's worth of history, the Maybach marquee was revived in the U.S. market in 2003 to compete against Rolls-Royce and Bentley. During that time, the brand essentially sold only one model in two lengths: the Type 57 and Type 62. Amenities included a fully reclining rear seat, electrotransparent sunroof, rear refrigerator and standard champagne flutes. (Kicking Tires)
