Thursday, Jan 23, 2014 2:30PM
Pop singer Ke$ha has finally come forward and broken her silence on receiving medical treatment at a rehabilitation center for a reported eating disorder.
Ke$ha updated over 3.5 million Twitter followers on her condition this week.
"hey It's Kesha from treatment. I just wanted to say that this is really hard and necessary work. I'm grateful for all the love and support," she tweeted January 22.
"i couldnt do this without you." (Ke$ha's Twitter)
According to recent reports, her mom Pebe Sebert recently sought professional help to assist in her battle with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Ke$ha's mother, Pebe Sebert, is checking into the same rehab facility as her daughter. She's admitting herself for post-traumatic stress disorder, following Ke$ha's own struggles with bulimia -- and Dr. Luke's denial that he was partially responsible. Ke$ha, flagship artist of Dr. Luke's Kemosabe Records, checked into Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, near Chicago, on January 3. A week later, Sebert accused the producer of calling his protege a "refrigerator" during the making of a music video, which he promptly denied. "This whole Dr. Luke thing has almost torn our family apart and taken over my life, and Ke$ha wants me to heal along with her," Sebert says. (Idolator)
Reports a week prior suggested Ke$ha's music producer was largely responsible for contributing to her disorder.
Sources directly connected to Ke$ha tell us ... it all started when the singer's "Get Sleazy" tour ended in 2011. She says Luke -- who signed Ke$ha to a deal at age 18 -- started ragging on her over the extra lbs she had gained in her downtime. Ke$ha says Luke -- a huge producer who has worked with Miley Cyrus and Rihanna -- began calling Ke$ha fat and urged her management team to do something about it. Our sources say Ke$ha complained ... during a music video shoot in 2012 Luke told her she "looks like a f***ing refrigerator" ... and the singer was profoundly affected by it. (TMZ)
Buzz behind the 26-year-old pop star checking into rehab surfaced online in early January.
The Tik Tok singer said in a statement provided by her spokesman Friday that she'll be unavailable for the next 30 days while she seeks treatment for an undisclosed eating disorder. "I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I've found it hard to practice," she said. The 26-year-old vegetarian pop star said she wants to "learn to love myself again, exactly as I am." No other details were provided. (USA Today)
