G.O.O.D Music's Pusha T recently updated fans on the status of another Clipse album hitting store shelves and where he stands with his brother, No Malice.
According to Pusha, there are no amount of pitches or suggestions he can currently make to convince No Malice to get back into Clipse mode.
"Man, I would really love to," Pusha said when asked about a reunion project. "My brother is really on his mission right now. Listen, listen to how real this is. Listen to how real it is though. We had the 10th anniversary of Lord Willin'. 30 dates, needless to say, high dollar. High dollar, already done. Two weeks before it was time to go, my brother was like, 'Nah, I don't want to do it. I'm off that, I'm on my mission right now.' You know, it's about [his album] Hear Ye Him, it's abotu where he is spiritually and he was like, 'Nah, I'm not going to do it. Just go ahead.' I asked him, now I had to do Coachella, 70,000, right? I'm like, 'Yo, I'd love to bring you out.' And he was like, all right, what song do you want to do?' You know me, I want to do, 'Keys Open Doors' -- he's like, 'Nah, I don't really, I'm not really feeling that.'" (BBC Radio 1)
The Virginia native also said mega producers Pharrell Williams and Kanye West are both interested in getting a joint project rolling.
On top of those scenarios I already gave you, you got Pharrell saying, 'Hey, when y'all ready, let's go.' And I think we should just do a two-sided, you know, the tale of two stories. He was like, 'You do what you do, he do what he do, and that's what you do.' Kanye's like, 'I want to executive produce this but if you want Pharrell to do the whole thing, that's fine, if not, I'll just be here too.' And he's like, 'Not right now.' [laughs] Mind you, this is the same person I talk to every other morning about my mom, nephews, nieces - you know, hey, where you at? ... I don't think it's anything holding him back, he just put out Hear Ye Him, a gospel album. I just feel like that's where he is. My brother, his spirituality right now is next level. ... There's things going on in life that are pushing him in that direction." (BBC Radio 1)
Earlier this year, Pharrell said he was confident Pusha and No Malice would reunite for at least one more full-length Clipse project.
"Oh they will," Pharrell told MTV News matter-of-factly, when asked if he thought a Clipse album is on the horizon, going on to explain what his role in the project might be. "I'm gonna have to find an untapped zone and just present something different that people haven't felt before. ... I don't know what the sounds would sound like, or what the vibes would be, but at that moment the arrow will present itself to me and I'll just listen and follow it." (MTV)
In February, Pusha said his main focus was on his My Name Is My Name LP but acknowledged a Clipse album was not too far down the road.
"When it comes to the Clipse, that's a special brand to me. Me and Malice talk about doing a Clipse album," Push told MTV News on the set of his "Doesn't Matter" video last week. The G.O.O.D. Music rhyme dealer didn't give a timeframe on when the album would drop, but he and his brother are taking the recording process very seriously. "I'm not into toyin' around with that, like just dropping records that ain't related to an album," he said. "We owe our fans something super special, so when it's time to do that, we just gonna zone in and focus in on that." (MTV)
Back in December 2011, Pusha publicly announced another Clipse project would follow 2009's Til the Casket Drops.
Last night at a show hosted by the good folks at Rap Radar, G.O.O.D. Music rapper Pusha T entered to "What Dreams Are Made Of" setting off a blast of energy in NYC's Gramercy Theater. Push A Ton kicked most of his recent work--a notable exception is the "Sweet Freestyle," which is thought to be a Drake diss--as well as a few older records. Rocking out to a packed house, Pusha decided to make some announcements towards the end of his set. "2012 G.O.O.D. Music Album...2012 Pusha T Solo Album...2012 New Re-Up Gang Music...2012-2013 New Clipse Album, yeauck," Push told the packed audience. (Hip Hop Wired)
