News: Justin Bieber Calls Off Retirement Move: "This Wasn't A Planned Stunt"
Monday, Dec 30, 2013 12:05PM
Pop star Justin Bieber's camp has stepped forward to clear the air after he claimed there was nothing left for him to accomplish in the music biz and, promptly, announced his retirement.
According to reports, one of JB's reps issued a formal statement on the retirement buzz.
Allison Kaye, GM of Scooter Braun Projects, released this statement: "Regarding his recent tweeting about his 'retirement' Justin felt that this was the best way to respond to the latest in a long line of inaccurate or wildly exaggerated media reports about him. He chose to channel his frustration into playing along with this baseless rumor and even used 'beloved' to tip off his core fans that it wasn't real. But within 20 minutes, Justin realized that fans were confused by the media reports and clarified that he was kidding. This wasn't a planned stunt, it was just another day in the life of living under the microscope. Justin loves his fans and understands that this scrutiny comes along with his success and the interest in him from fans and media." (RumorFix)
The Biebs broke the eyebrow-raising news to his 47.9 million Twitter followers last week.
"My beloved beliebers I'm officially retiring," he tweeted late Christmas Eve.
"The media talks a lot about me.They make a up a lot of lies and want me to fail but I'm never leaving you, being a belieber is a lifestyle."
"Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas IM HERE FOREVER"
"It's here. #TheTruth #BelieveMovie http://youtu.be/Dh1JFPd2mts" (Justin Bieber's Twitter)
Some media outlets immediately speculated if Bieber was really leaving the music game.
This isn't the first time that the 19-year-old singer has suggested he's reaching the twilight years of his career. Last week, he said the same thing in an interview with Los Angeles radio station Power 106 before quickly backtracking. But still! The chance of retirement! What pandemonium! What cruelty to the fans! But really? His new movie, Believe, comes out tomorrow, and he just released a new album, Journals, this week. So, by most measures, Bieber is still very much around for the time being. (Complex)
The news came in light of new collaborations and his Journals album hitting online digital outlets.
Following their hit "As Long As You Love Me," Justin Bieber reteams with Big Sean on the Diplo and Maejor Ali-produced "Memphis," another one of the many collaborations on his Journals album. The pop singer offers his girl the world in order to make her stay, but it's not enough. "I love you, I need you/ Need you here to stay," he sings. Journals also features collaborations with Lil Wayne, Future, Drake, Chance the Rapper, and R. Kelly. (Rap-Up)
