G-Unit leader 50 Cent recently updated fans on what project he has in the works before releasing his long-awaited Street King Immortal LP and why it should not be viewed as a typical mixtape offering.
Barring any unexpected changes, Fif said he will unleash his Animal Ambition project in the coming weeks.
"I'm going to drop it in January, it's a full body of work," Fif revealed. "I wouldn't call it a mixtape because it's a higher grade than the material that I put out on mixtapes. I recorded so many album quality songs that I'm going to put the Animal project out as my viral marketing plan and then it will come out after, Street King Immortal." (Whoolywood Shuffle)
Last week, Curtis Jackson said his delayed solo effort would be preceded by a new project.
But what about his long-coming album, "Street King Immortal"? Unfortunately, there is no word on the album release yet, but Jackson said he plans to put out a full body of work in January. While he did not label it as an album, he stated that it was more than a mixtape, and that it includes all original material. As to the sound of the release, he said he was "inspired in a whole other direction." (Huffington Post)
Earlier this year, Fif revealed his disinterest in rushing out the delayed album.
"I don't really need the money off of the record. I want the record to be right. I'm not doing it without a plan; I'm not putting it out like that," 50 told MTV News about his long-awaited fifth studio album. The multiplatinum rap king points to his label Interscope and says he won't make a move until the record company is ready. "It's a lot of staff changes, a lot of different people moving in and moving out, so you got to kind of wait until everything's right; until it's settled in," he reasoned. (MTV)
Fif even came up with a sports analogy to describe his current situation.
50 likens himself to a basketball player with dominant skills but less team support -- someone akin to Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant maybe? "I've been on a team where I take the ball out and throw myself the alley-oop, and I take the ball out and shoot the three-pointer myself, and I take the ball out and I dunk the ball," he said, driving home the analogy. 50 previously spoke to SOHH about his past issues with the label music executive Jimmy Iovine built.
"With Interscope, look, all artists are going to express their frustrations with the system at some point," Fif told SOHH. "I've had all the success in my career with Interscope Records. You know? So when everybody is there and working, that's a powerful system there but a lot of people that are walking around the building now are new faces so I'm reintroducing myself and creating a new focus with the people that are actually there."
