G-Unit leader 50 Cent is the latest hip-hop artist to co-sign the waves of attention pop singer Miley Cyrus has sparked in hip-hop since becoming a viral twerk sensation earlier in the year.
Although brief with his words, Curtis Jackson admitted he is down with the Miley movement.
Jackson didn't offer up what direction that was, but when asked about his favorite records from 2013, he maybe provided some perspective. "I've really been enjoying Big Sean's 'Beware,' Drake's 'Started From The Bottom' and I'm a Miley Cyrus fan," he said. Discussing the controversy surrounding Cyrus, he said, "You can't have artists just sitting in a box. Sometimes you build your own restraints and you prevent yourself from doing the things you truly want to do." (Huffington Post)
This week, fellow New York rapper Lil' Kim dished on her love and relationship with Cyrus.
"She was in [Tiffany Foxx's "Twisted"] video with me almost a year ago. We were always Twitter friends and when we saw each other out, we would always show each other love, but we came even closer. She texts me a lot when she's about to do something. [When] we around in the same place, we always call each other and text each other and we be talking. She's like, "I got a surprise for you for Halloween!" She dressed up as me and it was the best. I loved it. I thought it was f*cking awesome." (XXL Mag)
After rumors of Miley and Kanye West putting in some behind-the-scenes work in the studio last summer, Cyrus made sure to shout-out Yeezy for having her back in a recent interview.
"The support of other artists is important because there are not many people who can relate to what I'm going through right now. Kanye West is one of those people, and even Katy Perry has been so cool. It's easy for Kanye to support me because we're in totally separate lanes of competition, but for Katy to say that she appreciates what I'm really doing for the pop industry, that keeps you going. And I mean, who cares what the media buzz is if Kanye West is telling you that you're the sh*t?" (Cosmopolitan)
Not only supported by Kanye, Bad Boy Records' French Montana recently gushed over his bond to the 21-year-old actress/singer.
"That's my dog. That's my peoples. We became friends at the Clive Davis Grammy party. I was sitting there with Puff. She was sitting there with Wiz [Khalifa]. She just kept looking at me laughing, I kept on looking at her laughing. I said, "What you laughing at?" She said, "I know you high like me." After that, we became mad cool. I went over to the studio, just kicking it -- Yeah. We working on something now. That's just cool peoples." (MTV Hive)
