Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz recently updated fans on his relationship with longtime rap sidekick Dolla Boy and revealed if they should give up on a potential Playaz Circle reunion.
Although they have not dropped a collective effort in years, Chainz revealed some Playaz Circle tunes could appear any day.
"Yeah, I was with Dolla at the studio last night. So, you know, we never stop working. You never know what can happen. I'm definitely going to be working on this T.R.U. imprint. Me and him got this dope record that I want to use for it. So, I don't know if I'm gonna do a mixtape. I don't know what I'm gonna do next, but definitely be looking out for something next." Back in 2011, G-Unit's 50 Cent gave Chainz props for making it big with Playaz Circle.
"[Potentially hot artists?] Definitely 2 Chainz 'cause he's been around. He's one of them guys that's finally having a moment. I remember when he was in Playaz Circle. I know it's been years and years of work. And the kid Future. He's got some hits under his belt that ain't under his name, like that 'Racks' joint. I watch. It may seem like I'm doing business in different areas and doing different things, but my passion for music hasn't changed." (Shade 45)
Chainz has kept busy this year, recently showcasing Hot Boys artists like Juvenile, Lil Wayne and Turk in his "Used 2" music video.
2 Chainz takes over New Orleans in the nostalgic video for "Used 2," directed by Marc Klasfeld. The Atlanta rapper was joined by members of the Hot Boys including Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Turk (B.G. is currently behind bars) during his visit to the 7th Ward. While sporting a "Free B.G." T-shirt, he turns up in the streets with the '90s hip-hop group and watches as a twerking session breaks out. "We just tryna get that whole Hot Boys feel again," 2 Chainz told Rap-Up TV. "You always want to put the landscaping behind the actual authenticity of the record." The Mannie Fresh-produced song is the latest single off his sophomore album B.O.A.T.S. II: #METIME, which debuted at No. 3 last month. (Rap-Up)
Hot Boys' Turk recently spoke to SOHH about Deuce's music video.
"Let me tell you what it was. 2 Chainz has been a fan of the Hot Boys. He's from the South. The Hot Boys influenced a whole lot of people from the South that's in hip-hop right now. 2 Chainz gave me a call. He called me, he called Juvie and he called Fresh and we all answered. We influenced him and through Wayne, it was a Hot Boys reunion without B.G. But we made sure we represented B.G. just like we represented him at the BMI Awards earlier this year." (SOHH)
