West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar has come forward and addressed a handful of nixed Yeezus tour shows and what he has been doing to keep busy in the meantime.
Although disappointed in not getting to perform at some recently cancelled shows, Lamar revealed he has put his energy into the recording booth.
"I was looking forward to them cities man," Kendrick told MTV News on Saturday backstage at Power 105.1's annual Powerhouse concert in Brooklyn . The Tour was scheduled to hit Chicago November 7 and 9. "Now we gotta wait and sit back but I'll go in the studio and put that energy into the booth. But I definitely was looking forward to them cities. Hopefully, we get back on as soon as possible." (MTV)
K. Dot also updated fans on his experience, sharing the tour bill with rap star Kanye West.
"First off, just being a fan of his work and actually going on tour with him, that's just a whole 'nother world," Kendrick said of his experience with Yeezus thus far. "Second, watching him perform and seeing how much he put into his presence onstage, it just reassures me that coming out the booth, you gotta take just as much attention on that stage, and put work in on that." According to some recent reports, Ye's shows in Chicago this week have been set back.
Kanye West has postponed both "Yeezus" tour dates in Chicago for this week. The shows were scheduled for November 7 and November 9, respectively. Just last week Kanye West had to postpone shows in Vancouver, B.C., Anaheim, Denver and Minneapolis due to a truck crash that resulted in the irreparable damage of a 60-ft circular LED screen that was used as part of his stage design. Last week, Def Jam issued a statement and said Mr. West had postponed his tour due to a truck accident.
A custom-made video truss and 60-foot circular LED screen were damaged "beyond repair" when a tour truck wrecked on the road from Los Angeles to Vancouver, British Columbia, where West was scheduled to perform Thursday night, Gabe Tesoriero said. "This gear is central to the staging of 'The Yeezus Tour' and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA," Tesoriero said. It is "impossible" for West to perform "until these essential pieces can be re-engineered and prefabricated," he said. (CNN)
