Underrated: "There's A Lot Of Rappers Out & When Their Songs Come Out There's No Message. It's Like A** & Drugs"

[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name who they feel is the most underrated emcee in hip-hop. After Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's Krayzie Bone gave Treach the title, Rostrum Records' Vali crowns Lupe Fiasco SOHH Underrated.]
Honestly, I would say Lupe Fiasco is my pick for SOHH Underrated.
I think he's really, really freaking talented. I feel like the lyrics that he says are so deep to me. He had that song, "The Cool" that was one of the first records I heard of him and I was like, 'Whoa. This is serious.'
He's not just saying some stupid stuff. I just feel like he has a message that just doesn't get heard, to be honest. I really respect him.
I would have to say the most underrated thing about him is his lyrics. I just really, really love his lyrics. I love what he has to say. He even had that song about how girls grow up. That's real. That's like a real message. I know girls that ended up like that in New York. That's real talk. That's real stuff.
I just feel like people don't appreciate it. There's a lot of rappers out there that are big right now and to me, when their songs come out there's no message. It's like a** and drugs. Those are fun songs to drive to and go to the club but there's something about when you're just putting on music at home and someone's saying something.
For the past year, Vali has been recording tracks with producers such as Mark Baston (Alicia Keys, Beyoncé), Tommy Brown (Black Eyed Peas), and Jim Jonsin (Lil Wayne, Usher, Beyoncé). She is now releasing her new single "Dimes" featuring Wiz Khalifa.
