Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross recently dished out details about his upcoming Mastermind solo album and revealed rap mogul Jay Z would be featured on his new record.
Although slim with the details, the "Bawse" promised fans they could expect to hear him and Young Hov trade bars within the next few weeks.
Rick Ross and DJ Khaled stopped by Hot 97 earlier today to talk to Peter Rosenberg, Cipha Sounds and Ebro about their success in music and other business ventures, as well as their new albums, Mastermind and Suffering From Success. Near the end of the interview Ross announced a new single will be released soon from his upcoming album, and it features a very big name. "I'm releasing a new record. Myself, Jay Z, top of next month," Ross says. "We doing it big." The two have a celebrated track record together that dates back to 2006 when Jay hopped on the remix of Ross' first hit single "Hustlin" off of Port of Miami. They've since collaborated on "Free Mason," "3 Kings," Kanye West's "Monster" and more recently "F*ckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt" from Hov's album Magna Carta Holy Grail. (Complex)
While Hov has helped enhance Ross' music, the biggest boss recently said Jay has provided him life-long advice throughout the years.
"He's been a part of pretty much every project I've put together as a solo artist. He's always been there any time I've made a call. It's just an array of things I've learned from him outside of music, like handling business and money. ...I come from down South where I want the music, bass and the beats that shake the walls. Hov talked to me about performing (and) what live music brings to the table." (Associated Press)
Earlier in the summer, the "Boss" credited Jay for strengthening ties between hip-hop and mega corporations like Samsung with his new Magna Carta Holy Grail album release.
"It's one of those situations where Hov is creating new rules for the hip-hop game, for the rap game." Ross said in an interview. "I mean, it's exciting. I released a photo of Chelsea Clinton when I went to a Samsung event and you see corporations like Samsung reaching back into hip-hop, I think it's a sign to let us know for the next 20 years we gonna make power moves, we gonna get money." Outside of Jigga talk, Ricky Rozay is packing his bags and setting off on a "Mastermind" tour in November.
The 8-city "Mastermind" tour kicks off on Nov. 12 in Detroit and hits cities including Boston, New York, and Atlanta, wrapping on Nov. 23 in his hometown of Miami. The 37-year-old rapper will perform with the 1500 or Nothin' Band aka "The Fifteen Hundreds." He debuted the new stage show at a concert at Club Nokia in Los Angeles last month. "It's never been done like this," said Ross. "We'll be performing everything from 'Tears of Joy' to 'Aston Martin Music,' all with a live band. It's time to remind everyone what Maybach Music is all about." (Rap-Up)
