Young Money stud Drake made sure to celebrate his 27th birthday in fashion this week after reportedly hitting his hometown to spend time with family and friends.
According to reports, Drizzy received a slight jump on his special day Wednesday (October 23) evening.
Drake turns 27 today, but last night he celebrated with his friends and family at a classy affair in Toronto. In between shows on his "Would You Like a Tour?" the Canadian rapper got dressed up in a white tuxedo and purple bow tie and partied the night away. The Moet was flowing and shots were passed around as he toasted with his tourmates and fellow Scorpios Future and Miguel. He blew out the candles on his OVO cake, which was made to look like his hometown with the CN Tower, "Started From the Bottom" billboard, white Bentley, and his favorite spot Habibiz Cafe. "More than any man could ask for," wrote the birthday boy. He received wishes from his friends including Nicki Minaj. "Happy BDay champagnepapi!!!!!" tweeted his Young Money labelmate. Drizzy made headlines this week after reportedly deciding to ditch a tour concert in feature of concertgoers' safety.
Drake's people were vague as to why the rapper pulled the plug at the last minute, saying it was due to "unexpected technical issues." Now we can translate -- they were scared the catwalk that loomed over the stage would fall into the crowd. The catwalk is a big part of the show. Drake walks back and forth on it and there was fear an electrical malfunction could cause a calamity. The concert arena was filled with fans ... waiting for an hour, when the plug was pulled and they were sent home. The good news ... the problem is being fixed ... hopefully in time for tonight's show in Montreal. Good that fan safety came first. (TMZ)
Weekend reports claimed Drizzy decided to fall back on hitting the concert stage for his "Would You Like A Tour?" set an hour before showtime.
Fans left the Wells Fargo Center early Saturday night after a concert featuring superstar hip hop artist Drake was postponed at the last minute. The concert was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. It wasn't until around 8:30 p.m. however that the concertgoers were told the performance was canceled. According to Rebecca Goodman, a spokeswoman for the Wells Fargo Center, the concert was postponed due to an "unexpected technical issue." (NBC Philadelphia)
A statement and new date for the scrapped concert were both immediately released.
"Drake, the Wells Fargo Center, Live Nation, and the entire team behind tonight's show want to ensure fans will experience an unforgettable live music event and have decided to move the concert to a new date," she wrote in a released statement. "All tickets and original parking receipts from tonight's show will be honored at the Wednesday, December 18 date." (NBC Philadelphia)
