Dipset leader Cam'ron recently updated fans on the status of a reunion project alongside Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey and, most importantly, what has held it back.
Dismissing any and all feud speculation, Killa Cam admitted scheduling and an emphasis on putting out a quality effort has kept the LP shelved.
"Well, you know we all good with each other. It's about everybody, everybody still got a lot going on. You know what I'm saying? It's about everybody just being on the same page and not being busy. You know what I'm saying? Everybody got something going on right now. So, we all just gotta get on the same page and if we get the time, but it's definitely all love. It's just about nobody wants to sit in the studio for a week and just do a Dipset album cause it wouldn't be genuine. So, basically we trying to figure out the time schedule so we can do it and get it right." (Hoodrich Radio)
Earlier this year, Juelz Santana promised the Diplomats were back to business.
"We definitely going to get back in the studio and start working on some music and if the vibe is good and the music is coming out the way it's supposed to come out. We going to put that record out." (HHS1987)
A few days prior, Dipset's Jim Jones spoke on the much anticipated reunion.
"It's nothing really holding it up," Jimmy said in an interview when asked about the Dipset reunion. "It's just an organic thing, it's a band of brothers that started this game from teenagers, made a h*ll of a lot of money, probably more money than most of the industry had ever seen, um, you know, we all was feeling ourselves, little discrepancies, got back together, loving the fact that we could get back together on our own regard because everybody is their own boss, it's still Dipset for life, all of us have been recording. This month marks the ten-year anniversary of Diplomatic Immunity 1, the first album we did together. So yes, there will be a lot of surprises this year. We plan to attack a lot of Summer Jam stages, we plan to attack a lot of venues, um, we good. You're gonna love it, I promise you. And we have some music, that's the scary thing. ... I can say now we have some music that's going to bust some people's heads open." ("Jenny Boom Boom TV")
Over the winter, Santana blamed himself for holding things up.
"Shout-out to Jim, shout-out to Cam. I'm not going to even lie, at the time, when we put out the 'Salute' record, it was still at the time where I wasn't doing a lot of music, just, period. I wasn't back in the zone that I needed to be in, musically. Honestly. It's not even about that project. I had the same way like I took a break from everything. ... I wasn't really in my mojo to just sit down and just complete a Dipset project. We up with my man Flex, this is a new year. In order to get it right, we've got to make it all the way right. You dig what I'm saying? That's why I'm saying it is possible, because I know Cam is willing to do, I'm sure Jim is willing to do it. I've always been willing to do it, it's just about me getting my music mojo back." ("Funkmaster Flex")
