Young Money's Drake is making headlines this week over a decked-out OVO owl chain and is being accused of ripping off the pendant.
According to reports, a jeweler is going after Drizzy's pockets over making alleged knockoffs.
Drake's expensive jewelry collection is coming back to bite him in the ass -- a famous jeweler is suing him over a $50,000 owl pendant ... claiming Drake illegally made knockoffs of it for his friends. The jeweler Baden Baden Inc. (owned by designer Michael Raphael) filed the lawsuit, claiming Drizzy hired the company to make a custom diamond-studded platinum owl pendant back in January ... and paid $49,204. Then in June ... BB claims gold duplicates of the pendant started surfacing on Drake's Instagram. (TMZ)
Despite the hefty suit, Drake has been known for using the iconic owl on his music dating back two years.
According to the lawsuit, BB claims Drake took its original design, copied it, and handed out the knockoffs to his pals. Baden Baden is suing for copyright infringement, demanding unspecified damages, and asking the court to force Drake to hand over the owl copies. One potential sticking point -- Drake's been using the owl logo for years ... it's the freakin' cover of his 2011 mixtape. (TMZ)
The rapper also dons a tattoo of his OVO owl on the upper part of his back.
When the photo of Drake's Aaliyah tattoo surfaced, folks couldn't stop talking about Drizzy's back ink. Now, a photo of the rapper in the gym showing his other tattoos has hit the web. In the newly surfaced pic, we see that he also has an OVO owl and more. Despite having a few tattoos on his back, Drake's label boss Lil Wayne wasn't with the idea of Drake getting tatted up. In a interview with MTV a few years ago, Drake spoke on Weezy giving him advice on the body ink. "He told me something I never thought I'd hear him say, which was, 'You're the ultimate artist. You're better than me. You don't have the tattoos, you don't cause any trouble. People like you.' He was like, basically, 'Look at me and look at you.' (VIBE)
The Toronto native was also recently sued by a former stylist.
Michael Raphael, Drake's former stylist, is currently suing the singer for more than $76,000, reports Gossip Cop. Drake allegedly owes Raphael for unpaid bills from his time of employment in 2012. According to the lawsuit filed in New York, Raphael says that Drake hired him and used his services, including consulting, personal styling and graphic design, from August to December 2012. Raphael used his own debit card for certain purchases and he claims Drake never reimbursed him for the nearly $40,000 in shopping expenses or his $39,000 monthly salary for his final month of employment. The stylist alleges that Drake owes him $76,490 and he's suing for the entire amount, along with a penalty for breach of contract. (Huffington Post)
