Taylor Gang leader Wiz Khalifa recently updated fans on his upcoming Blacc Hollywood solo album and revealed how much of an impact his son Sebastian played in its production.
According to Wiz, Baby Bash ultimately helped him realize what approach he should take with the LP.
"My son really just motivated me because I was kinda confused as to what I needed to do next and what was the best moves for me," he admitted. "When I had him it kinda became all clear. So this album is gonna be really edgy. It's gonna be really fun and going back to my roots, but still progressing and moving forward as well." (MTV)
A couple months ago, Wiz broke his silence on the new album's title
"Juicy's album comes out this August. My guys a legend and still puts in more work than u young n*ggas. #StayTrippy #Tgod," Khalifa tweeted June 24th.
"Im droppin an album later this year too. & namin dat bitch "Blacc Hollywood"." (Wiz Khalifa's Twitter)
Earlier this year, the rapper said he was already at the halfway point of the upcoming solo effort.
"I took a break when he was born, all the way up until now," Wiz said in an interview, referring to his newborn son. "So I've been inactive for about six weeks. I haven't been in the studio, I haven't been doing anything so when I got back to work, I was really motivated. It felt good to be working. It was fun, I was coming up with new ideas. I feel like a lot of the raps that I'm spitting right now are so killer, I got to put an album out. Why wait? ... I'm like fifty percent done. I've started and it's almost done. Right now, I just need to take the pieces apart and put em back together as far as the business side goes because I literally just told my label yesterday that I want to do this. They're like, 'Ah, okay, so you're going to hand it in really soon if you want to make that date. So I'm just about to hustle up." (FUSE TV)
A couple weeks prior, Khalifa broke the news of plans to drop a follow-up to last year's O.N.I.F.C.
"Actually I am working on another album," Wiz revealed in an interview. "I'm planning on dropping it this year. I wasn't going to, it's just I got so much motivation, I'm having so much fun, having my son, like, you know, I feel it would be a great time to put out a really dope, relevant project and kill it again. ... I'm doing a lot of features, a lot of videos. I'm gonna just be everywhere this year, I'm doing everything. I actually haven't even told anyone I was working on an album yet, you guys are the first ones [to know]. ... You know what, I don't want to put [my son] on a song for the fact -- I don't want to give people the option to like it or not like it because I've heard some stuff where people put their kids on stuff and you know it's ehhhh. So, I mean, I don't want it to happen to myself where they're listening to it like, 'Ohhhh nice, Bash is on here.' [laughs]" ("Big Boy's Neighborhood")
Last December, Khalifa's O.N.I.F.C. fell a notch short of debuting atop the sales chart.
Leading the way this week is Wiz Khalifa's O.N.I.F.C. at No. 2 behind Taylor Swift's Red (167,000). According to Nielsen SoundScan, the new LP has shelled out 141,400 copies after seven days in stores. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
