News: UPDATE: Andre 3000 Shuts Down Music Comeback Hype
Sunday, Aug 4, 2013 8:07PM
Less than 24 hours after buzz about elusive rap star Andre 3000's comeback plans surfaced online, Three Stacks has already responded to the growing hype.
According to 3000's representative, his long-awaited solo LP is not yet penciled in.
3000, unlike is his 'Kast mate Big Boi, has not released a solo album. Since Outkast's 2006 soundrack album for "Idlewild," Andre has only rapped sporadically as a featured guest on songs like Beyonce's "Party" and Drake's "The Real Her." But not so fast, 3K fans. True as Stephen G. Hill's ATLien encounter may be, nothing's set in stone. Billboard reached out to Andre's publicist, who says nothing is for certain on the album front. "Regarding reports of a specific plan to release an album in early 2014," the rep says, "There is no official confirmation on that report." That statement doesn't completely nix the potential of an Andre 3000 album in 2014. It just means it's not locked in. (Billboard)
Buzz courtesy of BET executive Stephen G. Hill about Andre putting together a new LP surfaced Saturday.
André 3000 is finally ready. Fans have waited patiently and it looks like the OutKast member is ready to deliver a new project soon. Stephen G. Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials for BET Networks, ran into 3 Stacks backstage at Lil' Wayne and T.I.'s "America's Most Wanted Tour" stop in Washington D.C. on Friday night. During their breif conversation, Hill reveals the ATLien told him a new solo album will arrive early 2014. "Me: hey what's up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah...and I got a solo album coming top of the year. Me: *droptofloor*" (Miss Info TV)
Last month, footage of Three Stacks in a recording studio sparked some chatter.
While Andre 3000 has shown up in music sporadically over the years, you never know when or where he may pop up. Today we get an interesting video from Mike Will Made It, via Instagram, in which we see the producer and the legendary MC in the studio for one reason or another. While no other information was let loose, the video did come with the caption that read "#staytuned". Man, I hope this happens! (Stupid Dope)
In early 2012, Andre explained his disinterest in rushing out a reunion OutKast LP.
"There's been a lot of talk on the Internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album. There's a lot of music on the horizon. I've been living off the excitement of new artists. I've been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, "Hey, Andre, we want you on this song." So I've been taking those calls and for the last two years, I've been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I've just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I'm planning to do a solo project. I don't know when it will come out, but hopefully it'll come out this year. As far as OutKast, I really don't know if or when that will happen." (GQ)
