A couple days after J. Cole and Diddy downplayed rumors about a physical altercation going down at a post-VMAs party last weekend, new reports claim Kendrick Lamar played a significant role in the incident.
According to new reports, tensions initially boiled over between Diddy and Lamar which resulted in Cole getting involved.
Multiple sources familiar with the situation told Complex it went down like this: 1. Diddy was visibly intoxicated. 2. He tried to confront Kendrick over the "King of New York" claim in his "Control" freestyle. 3. Diddy allegedly attempted to pour a drink on Kendrick, and J. Cole intervened. 4. The two started arguing and Cole allegedly put his hands on Diddy, which then led to problems between their respective crews. 5. After a brief scuffle, both crews separated. We reached out to the Dream Downtown to confirm the party. Their reps said they hosted an event on Sunday night with a variety of celebrities but could not give out further information on the incident. However, photos via FakeShoreDrive from the event confirm that J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Diddy were all in the building. (Complex)
While brief with his words, Cole simply downplayed the rumored scuffle on Monday (August 26).
"people will believe anything," Cole tweeted August 26. (J. Cole's Twitter)
More direct in his approach, Diddy specifically addressed the reports and did initially confirm there was some shouting.
"I usually don't address rumors but I got too much respect for my bro @JColeNC. We are friends. We just yell in public sometimes LOL #Fam," Diddy tweeted August 26.

Prior to Puff's comments, Cole's road manager Ibrahim denied the fight rumors.
"The Internet is a crazy place you n*ggaz reporting sh*t with no facts, Cole ain't get thrown out no party and he d*mn sure aint get beat up," he tweeted August 26.
"Ain't gon go into details about last night but get the facts right first before you rush to report some sh*t for some extra blog clicks" (Ibrahim's Twitter)
The gossip started to scatter across the Internet early Monday.
The rumor underworld is buzzing with word of an alleged scuffle at the Jay Z and Diddy MTV Video Music Awards after-party at NYC's Dream Hotel last night (Aug. 25). The D'ussé and Ciroc sponsored event was star-studded, with Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Leonardo DiCaprio, Drake and more witnessing the alleged melee between Roc Nation soldier J. Cole and the CEO of Bad Boy records, Sean "Diddy" Combs. The two allegedly exchanged words that turned into a physical altercation where J. Cole and Diddy roughed each other up. Seems like cooler heads prevailed and the party went on, yet without J. Cole in attendance as he was escorted out of the building. (VIBE)
