Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West keeps popping up at random concerts this month as footage of him stealing the spotlight at Drake's Monday (August 5) night OVO Fest concert has surfaced.
According to reports, Ye followed notable invited guests like Big Sean and Wale to perform his "New Slaves" anthem.
Drake's annual OVO Fest is tonight in Toronto, and naturally he's brought some special guests. Though some have inferred from Drake's recent lyrics about "your new sh*t," that some subliminal shots are being thrown at the one and only Kanye West. Whether or not such is the case, the pair of superstar rappers make a move tonight that will silence all speculation, if at least only for a moment, taking the same stage in Toronto. After bringing a number of other stars, including The Weeknd, Big Sean, French Montana, TLC, and Wale, Drake brought out Kanye West. (Complex)
Last week, Mr. West popped up at G.O.O.D Music affiliate Travis Scott's Los Angeles concert.
Kanye made a cameo at Travis Scott and Casey Veggies' "PNCXX" show in Los Angels on Friday night, hitting the stage in a hoodie to perform Yeezus' "New Slaves." After the show Travis took to Instagram and Twitter, and shouted out 'Ye for joining him by re-tweeting fans who attended the show, and adding, "MAN BEST SHOW EVER MY BIG BRO CAME AND ROCKED LA WAS AWESOME. Thanks ye for coming out and throwing up with me" (MTV)
Drizzy's OVO Fest opening night resulted in a cancellation after headliner Frank Ocean pulled out.
The opening night of next week's OVO Fest in Toronto has been cancelled due to the vocal problems of its headliner, Frank Ocean, Live Nation announced on Tuesday. Ocean, who suffered a tear on his vocal cord last week, resulting in the cancellation of an Australian tour, was to perform on Aug. 4 at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Canada's largest city. James Blake, who was to perform on the same bill as Ocean, will instead be added to the sold-out Aug. 5 show alongside Drake and Wale. Tickets for the opening night will be refunded. (Billboard)
Drizzy recruited a slew of hip-hop heavyweights like Nicki Minaj, French Montana, Meek Mill and more for last year's OVO Fest.
Drake headlined his third annual OVO Festival in his hometown of Toronto on Sunday night (August 5) with guests like Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, Snoop Dogg as his reggae alter-ego Snoop Lion, French Montana, Meek Mill and singer The Weeknd all sharing the stage with him. And as promised, Drake unleashed his featured guest appearance on Aaliyah's posthumous single, "Enough Said," debuting it as part of his huge concert last night. It has previously been reported that Drizzy would be executive-producing the late and loved singer's posthumous album and "Enough Said" seems to be the first listen off the project. (XXL Mag)
