Cash Money Records' Busta Rhymes may be looking a lot different in the months to come after hinting at possible plans to once again rock dreads.
Over the weekend, Bussa Buss revealed an interest in letting his hair grow back out rather than keeping the weekly shape-ups in place.
Back in 2005, Busta Rhymes famously cut off his trademark dreadlocks for spiritual and personal reasons, but after rocking a Caesar haircut for years, the Brooklynite decided to ditch the fade and bring "Sampson back." "That growth signifies that new defining moment in my life," Busta told MTV News on the VMA red carpet Sunday night. "I'm at another turning point. We pressin' the reset button." One of the biggest reset buttons the rapper born Trevor Smith pressed was on his musical resurgence, which began with signing with Cash Money Records. "Everything I've done up to this point was basically like the boot camp training," he added. "Now, motherf--ers is in trouble. And it just feels right karmically, spiritually, physically, mentally, everything that I do is based on a vibe and a energy and if the moment is what's calling for it, we move on it." (RapFix)
Earlier this year, Atlanta's Waka Flocka Flame said he gains his strength courtesy of sporting dreads and vowed to never cut them off.
"Hell no, I ain't never cutting these dreads," Waka said in an interview. "Sh*t is strength, wisdom, you know what I mean? This is all my strength right here. I'm the reason why these girls love these dreads." (Montreality)
Prior to cutting off his iconic dreads, T-Pain spoke to SOHH about why a shorter look is a sign of growth.
SOHH: There was some excitement a [recently] over Lil Wayne allegedly cutting his dreads but it turned out his hair was merely pulled back. Any chance you would ever consider snapping off your iconic hair and going with a low-cut look? T-Pain: I guess we all have to grow up at some point in our lives. I guess we will have to wait and see if that ever happens to me hahahaaaa (SOHH)
A few months ago, rumors of rap star Lil Wayne cutting off his hair bubbled online.
In the photos, it looked as if Wayne had cut off his locks, but MTV News contributor Kelley L. Carter -- who watched Tunechi perform at a pre-Super Bowl party in New Orleans and even posed for a picture with the "A Milli" MC -- said Weezy's wig is still intact. "I'm pretty sure he still had his dreads and they were pulled back in a ponytail," she told us Friday (February 1). "In fact, I'm like 1,000 percent positive. I would've noticed that." Carter sent MTV News some exclusive photos that she snapped that ultimately debunk the hair-chopping theory. The angle mixed with the manner in which the rapper had his hair tied back did make it seem as if he had gotten a haircut and was wearing a mini-afro, but the picture was deceiving. (MTV)
