Thursday, Aug 22, 2013 12:30PM
Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz is receiving some dicey press as reports claim Oklahoma City police have made arrests after pulling his tour bus over early Thursday (August 22).
According to reports, a handful of Chainz's entourage were taken to a local jail.
10:30 a.m. About 10 people who were aboard the 2 Chainz tour bus have been taken to the Oklahoma County jail Thursday after the bus was stopped by an Oklahoma City police drug interdiction task force. The band appeared at the Chesapeake Energy Arena Wednesday night with Lil Wayne. Everyone aboard the bus was arrested and taken to the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of interfering with official process, said police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow. Police have obtained a search warrant and the bus is being searched at the police training grounds at 800 N Portland Avenue Thursday morning. Check NewsOK.com for updates. (News OK)
Police initially tried to search the bus early in the morning and, after failing to gain cooperation, had the vehicle towed with the passengers still inside.
The rapper performed Wednesday night with Lil Wayne at a concert at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Just after midnight Thursday, police pulled over the tour bus at Interstate 40 and Meridian for a broken taillight. The officer suspected the driver of drug use, and arrested him. The bus doors were locked, however, and the passengers on board refused to open them. Police had the tour bus towed, with the people still on board, to the police training facility at 850 N. Portland until officers obtained a warrant to search the bus. (News On 6)
While felony charges are not expected, the arrested passengers could receive misdemeanors.
The seven people on board the bus who initially refused to open the doors were eventually taken off the bus and detained while officers searched the vehicle. All of them could be charged with interfering with official process, a misdemeanor offense. (News On 6)
Despite the connection, there is no word on whether 2 Chainz was aboard the bus.
But the driver told cops he wasn't letting 'em on ... and locked the door ... and told cops they had to get a search warrant before he would unlock the doors. It's unclear who's on the bus -- but we're told Wayne and T.I. (also on the tour) had left the city on private jets before the incident. 2 Chainz is also part of the tour -- but no word if he's on the bus. Cops eventually towed the bus (with the people inside) to a nearby police training facility ... while they wait for a judge to issue a warrant. (TMZ)
