Rap stars Rick Ross and Jay-Z have reportedly agreed to terms with Washington, D.C. rapper Fat Trel to add him to their respective Maybach Music Group and Roc Nation rosters.
While details are still emerging, MMG will be his new label while Roc Nation will handle his management.
2013 has been good to DMV artist Fat Trel and it just got a little bit better. Reports are saying Fat Trel has inked a contract with MMG and is now a member of the family, where his good friend Wale also resides. Word is he signed Roc Nation to handle management duties as well. Expect the official announcement soon. (Rap Exclusive)
The East Coast rapper's manager is reportedly responsible for stirring up the signing buzz.
It looks like the DMV area has a reason to celebrate this weekend. Reports are stating that Washington D.C. artist, Fat Trel, has signed a deal with MMG/ Roc Nation. Fat Trel's manager, Debo, recently put out a picture through his Instagram account that revealed the contract in which Fat Trel had just signed (seen in gallery above). This shouldn't come as much of suprise though considering Trel has been very vocal about his friendship with fellow artist and now label-mate Wale. (Hot New Hip Hop)
In March, No Limit Records founder Master P revealed his business relationship with Trel.
"I feel there's no other artist on the street hotter than him, making the type of music he makes," Master P told MTV News of Alley Boy, who was seated right beside him. "I thought it was only right for this mob, what we're building over here and what he's already created with Duct tape. This is my partner, Fat Trel is my partner so, this the next generation of No Limit Forever, the revolution." (MTV)
Based on his website's biography, Trel's dive into hip-hop full-time started from a near-fatal 2009 shooting.
Born in Danville, VA and raised in Washington, DC, Fat Trel took an interest in the art of rap at age 10, learning to write and record his own rhymes in his cousin's studio. Influenced by the likes of the Hot Boy$, Geto Boys, Scarface, Rick Ross and his hometown famous go-go music, the budding artist meshed an East Coast sound with a down South touch. As a teenager, Fat Trel made music just for fun after dropping out of high school and taking to the streets to provide for his family. But, a major turning point in his life came in 2009 when he was shot and wounded by his childhood friend during an unexpected altercation. The incident, which left him in a hospital and on bed-rest for several weeks, changed his outlook on life. From that moment on, Fat Trel decided to take his musical talents seriously and never looked back. (Fat Trel 1135)
