While Kanye West fans still have to wait until June 18 to get their hands on his long-awaited Yeezus solo album, they can rejoice over an unexpected new Ye tune premiering over the weekend.
According to reports, G.O.O.D Music affiliate producer Hudson Mohawke let a new Kanye track loose during a live event.
Even with the release date just over a week away, very little is known about Kanye West's upcoming album, Yeezus. Hudson Mohawke took it upon himself to preview some new material by the hip-hop superstar. Seems like Kanye recorded over TNGHT's 'R U Ready' which was taken down from their official Soundcloud page at his request. Will it appear on his upcoming solo? Time will tell. (HHNM)
Last month, unreleased Ye tunes were premiered by Mohawke at another show.
During Hudson Mohawke's set at Poland's Free Form Festival last night, the Scottish producer and G.O.O.D. Music signee dropped two new Kanye West cuts, one of which segued into TNGHT's "Goooo". (HudMo also played unreleased Kanye material in his set at Dublin's Twisted Pepper last week, he tweeted, though there's no video.) No word yet if these two tracks will appear on Yeezy's upcoming sixth solo album (which may feature Daft Punk and Skrillex, and be released on June 18), but they're significantly clearer than the Vine posts of new material debuted at last week's Met Ball, so much so that it's possible to pick out some probably soon-to-be-classic lines: "There's leaders and there's followers but I'd rather be a d*ck than a swallower." (Pitchfork)
Last week, fellow Chicago rapper Chief Keef announced his appearance on the LP.
"Finally Rich in stores, iTunes," Keef said when asked if he has anything new going on. "And [I've been] working with Kanye. [Am I on the album?] Yeah, I think so. I did a song called, yeah, I'm on it. I forgot what the song's called. But it's a hot song." (Elite Money Empire)
Despite only a matter of days away from dropping, Yeezus is reportedly still being touched up.
Kanye West's new album "Yeezus" is due out June 18, but he's still in the studio putting the final touches on the track list. Chatter among music insiders is the rapper's scrambling to add some consumer-friendly singles to the album. The aggressive tracks he performed on "SNL," including "New Slaves" and "Black Skinhead" received mixed reviews. But an insider tells us that West's reworking so close to the release date is "not in any response to any negative reaction." He's also bringing in extra marketing muscle to push "Yeezus" including Amy Thomson, who managed Swedish House Mafia and is working with West as a consultant. (NY Post)
