Rap veteran Nas is going to put New York City on his back next month as reports claim he is slated to perform at the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Weekend at Citi Field.
According to reports, Nas will take center stage in Queens, New York around mid-July.
Nas is scheduled to perform during the 2013 MLB All-Star Weekend. The homecoming concert will take place on July 19th at Citi Field. Nas will be the headliner for the Summer Postgame Concert Series after the Mets take on the Phillies. (Complex)
Last October, rap star Lil Wayne performed at the San Francisco Giants' stadium for its playoff baseball game.
Apparently rapper Lil Wayne is a friend of Giants utility man Ryan Theriot, and as such, he sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch in Sunday's Game 6 of the National League Championship Series. As popular as Lil Wayne is, Twitter blew up for the singing of "God Bless America," performed by Renee Lubin of San Francisco's Beach Blanket Babylon. Twitter, of course, exploded with questions about the hat and making fun of it. Many of those people must be new to this whole postseason baseball thing, because two years ago at Game 5 of the NLCS, another cast member of the show sang "God Bless America." (CBS Sports)
A few months ago, Nas' one-time rap rival Jay-Z signed New York Yankees star Robinson Cano to his Roc Nation Sports agency.
Entertainment mogul and rapper Jay-Z has started the process of divesting his small share of ownership with the Brooklyn Nets to extend his Roc Nation Sports representation business into basketball, sources told Yahoo! Sports. Jay-Z - whose real name is Shawn Carter - owns less than 1 percent of the Nets, but has been a central public figure in the franchise's marketing and move from New Jersey to Brooklyn. Selling his share of the Nets is a necessary prelude for Jay-Z to obtain his National Basketball Players Association certification as an agent. NBA rules mandate that no one individual affiliated with a player representation company can have an ownership stake with an NBA team. (Yahoo News)
God's Son has kept busy this month, releasing his new "Make Nas Proud" track last weekend.
"While you was writing down my rhymes, I was just tryna show you that if you say what's in your mind, you could stand the test of time/Now I'm playing Born Sinner loud," Nas raps on the track. "You made your n---a Nas proud. So you ain't Nas let down, it's just part of the game, becoming a rap king my n----/You ain't let Nas down." "How that sound? Here's the crown, pass it to you like nothin'/You ain't let Nas down." "Long live the idols, may they never be your rivals," Nas tweeted on Saturday, quoting Cole's hook on the original track, and adding, "I ain't put out no shit in a minute!" before they dropped the song. Nas tweeted up a storm about the new release and Cole responded with gratitude. (RapFix)
