News: Jay Electronica Pushed Mac Miller To The Edge: "I Was Like, 'Tell Me Now If You're Gonna Do This'"

Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller has finally detailed how he managed to snag elusive Roc Nation artist Jay Electronica for the new Watching Movies with the Sound Off and how much of a challenge it ended up becoming.
According to Miller, Jay Elect just barely made the album due to timing issues.
"He sent me the verse two hours before I went in to master it. The album was done, and I was like, 'Bro, the album is done. Tell me now if you're gonna do this. No hard feelings if you can't, I completely understand.' He was like, 'I promise you.' And he would be sending me texts just randomly throughout the whole album process, like, 'Don't turn your album in without me.' The whole time, we'd been talking about doing this record." (Complex)
Buzz behind Miller recruiting Jay Elect for their new "Suplexes Inside of Complexes and Duplexes" collaboration emerged last month.
June 18 is shaping up to be a big day for music with Kanye West, J. Cole, and Mac Miller's albums being released the same day. Watching Movies With The Sound Off's 19-song tracklist will surely have fans a little more amped for the upcoming release. Some of the sophomore effort's slated features include Ab-Soul, Earl Sweatshirt, and ScHoolboy Q. And yes, that is Jay Electronica who's being listed. (Complex)
The hard-hitting track premiered online last weekend.
Look guys, I'm sorry, and I'm not any more ready for this than you are, but we're going to have to start taking Mac Miller seriously. On the strength of recent collabs with people like Flying Lotus, Ab-Soul, and Earl Sweatshirt, Miller, who just a couple of years ago was one of the most irritating people in rap, has stepped his game up to a scary degree and emerged as a lovably goofy and weird stoner-rapper. And on two new songs, he holds his own with two fiercely beloved underground rappers. On the loonily titled "Suplexes Inside Of Complexes And Duplexes," Miller and the mercurial Jay Electronica do fiendish things to a dusty breakbeat (Stereo Gum)
Along with Jay Elect, Mac relied on some additional features courtesy of Odd Future and ScHoolboy Q for the LP.
