Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav's run at being a fast food mogul owner appears close to ending as reports claim he has received an eviction notice for his last restaurant.
Details of the rap veteran's woes surfaced across the Internet Friday (June 14).
Flavor Flav's run as a fast food mogul could be over in a matter of weeks ... because the last of his fried chicken joints has been hit with eviction papers ... TMZ has learned. Flavor Flav's Chicken & Ribs in Sterling Heights, MI has been accused of stiffing its landlord out of rent since the day it opened back in December 2012. FYI -- FFC&R is the last of 3 fried chicken joints Flav has tried to open in the past few years ... one sputtered out in Iowa in 2011 and the other one died a slow painful death in Vegas in 2012. Now, according to court docs obtained by TMZ, the Michigan location is also on the ropes ... unless it finds a way to come up with $25,000 (missing rent + late fees + damages). (TMZ)
After multiple attempts to receive monthly payments, Flav's landlord finally had enough and resorted to legal action.
The papers show ... FFC&R was late in making its monthly $3,500 monthly rent payment back in Sept and October -- and stopped paying altogether in November. The landlord warned Flav's restaurant about the problem back in January ... and just a few weeks ago, went back to the court in hopes a judge will kick Flav to the curb, stat. We called Flav about the crisis ... and he told us he had no idea the restaurant was in trouble. But the rapper insists, "I'm gonna figure out what's going on and get to the bottom of this ASAP!" The giant clock's tickin' ... (TMZ)
After a nasty fallout with former business partners, Flav decided to launch his very own fried chicken and soul food takeout restaurant in Nevada last year.
The one-time member of the rap group Public Enemy is holding opening ceremony Thursday evening at Flavor Flav's House of Flavor, a few blocks southeast of downtown Las Vegas. It's the night before the 53rd birthday for the celebrity whose public persona is as big as the clock he wears on his chest. His real name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr., and he's tried the chicken restaurant recipe before. A short-lived franchise dubbed Flav's Fried Chicken opened and closed last year in Clinton, Iowa. An announcement says the Las Vegas store isn't associated with the one in Iowa. (Washington Post)
He previously spoke on his love for the culinary arts and the new restaurant's theme.
"My secret (shhhh) fried chicken recipe. That's the star. But we have a red velvet waffle too, and everyone goes ohhhh when they hear that. Go on, you can say it," Flav said when asked about the menu. "My parents owned a soul food diner. It inspired me to go to culinary school. [Did I get a degree?] I sure did. 1978. Albertson, N.Y. ... [The restaurant theme?] Things showcasing my career, a lot of pictures up of me and my celebrity friends. I'll wait until we expand to put all my clocks on the wall." (Los Angeles Times)
