Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris recently boasted about his status in the rap game and how nearly ten albums deep, he has reason to believe he's an elite hip-hop artist.

In Luda's opinion, his thirteen years of hard work have earned him some stripes in an ever-changing music industry.

"I feel good about my place in hip-hop. I feel like I'm one of the elite and I say this humbly speaking," said Luda. "To make it to album number eight [Ludaversal], to be in the game 13 years and still be hungry, I feel like I've written my chapter into the hip-hop history book and I feel like everything from now is damn near extra credit." (Rap-Up)

He also pointed out why some critics may not give him full props for his achievements.

However, he understands why he doesn't always get the respect he deserves. "It's 'cause I play so f*cking much. They call me Ludacris for a reason," he said. "Sometimes people don't know when to take me serious. And sometimes people do take me serious when I'm really just joking around." (Rap-Up)

Last year, New York's DJ O. Minaya crowned Luda his pick for SOHH Underrated.

"A person that I've always liked and I think hasn't always gotten the respect he deserves is Ludacris. Ludacris is definitely a dope lyricist and I don't think he gets the respect he deserves. His wordplay and metaphors are just sick. It's everything. To be honest, the Chicken & Beer album's intro is bananas. I think that intro made me think, "Man, this dude is crazy." Before that, on his first album, he had a record with I believe UGK, "Stick 'Em Up," and I remember hearing that record and saying, "Man, this dude is crazy." He's definitely ill. He's just crazy with everything, especially on the guest features. That's why I have to go with Ludacris for my pick as SOHH Underrated." (SOHH Underrated)

Fashion mogul Kimora Lee Simmons previously hit up SOHH and put Luda in her SOHH Top 5 Dead or Alive.

"I'm gonna say Ludacris. [This] list is really hard because I have to name rappers who aren't on there and all of them are my favorites. I would name Nicki Minaj as my second but I'm going to take her out and put Ludacris there instead. Music to me is about flow and I also really love Ludacris' flow when he raps. With Ludacris, it's really about the flow and the beat." (SOHH Top 5 Dead or Alive)
