Los Angeles Lakers star Metta World Peace, who also has made a name for himself rapping, has publicly co-signed Cash Money Records taking a chance by signing reality star Paris Hilton to the growing team.
In Metta's perspective, the move is overall a positive one by adding a well-known face to an already popular music empire.
"Charlamagne Calls YMCMB "Donkey Of The Day"For Signing Paris Hilton! http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhhh8on5NECoA628D7 ... I think it's a good look because she's a name," Metta tweeted Thursday (May 23) night. (Metta World Peace's Twitter)
This week, Cash Money's Jay Sean spoke to SOHH about boss Baby's knack for taking chances with unexpected signees.
"I think that's one of the most amazing things. When I talked to Baby, I just remember thinking how street smart that was. He's like, "Yo, Jay, man, you do you. Keep on doing what you do because that's worked for you and it's going to keep working for you." They don't tell me, "Yo, we need you to do this. We need you to work with that person." They're just like, "Yo, do you love your album? We love this album because we know you love it." Baby texts me all the time saying, "Yo, I just want you to know your album is incredible." That's what's so amazing. They live with stuff and they believe in it." (SOHH)
Earlier this week Hilton broke the news and said she is going through Cash Money to drop her sophomore solo album.
But the big news: this nightfly who is really a successful businesswoman is recording her second album of music right now. It will be issued by CashMoney Records and will feature many hip hop acts such as Lil Wayne. Paris told me Afrojack is producing it, and she hopes to have it out this summer. The album release will be preceded by Paris doing a residency playing records (digital tracks) this summer in Ibiza, Spain-which also happens to be the hometown of her eleven years younger male model boyfriend named River. "This is a lot different than my first album," Paris told me. "It's really going to be house music." (Showbiz 411)
Birdman hopped onto his Twitter page to officially announce his label's latest signee after the news went viral.
"Welcome@ParisHilton to tha Family.RichgangRichgirl.YMCMB," Birdman tweeted May 22nd. (Birdman's Twitter)
The blonde reality star has had various run-ins with Young Money/Cash Money over the past few years.
Hilton has been rolling with the Cash Money crew for a while now. Last year, she released a song with Wayne, "Last Night," and he was even on hand at her birthday bash back in March. In May, she was also recruited to cameo in the Rich Gang's video for "Tapout," alongside Cash Money all-stars Wayne, Birdman, Mack Maine and Nicki Minaj. (MTV)
